The Construction Foreman is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing and executing construction and renovation projects in a healthcare environment. This role supervises daily field operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with infection control and life safety requirements.

Job Description:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and perform day-to-day construction activities, supervising in-house staff and subcontractors.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute construction and renovation projects in active healthcare settings.
- Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with specifications.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and coordinate work across trades and departments.
- Maintain a safe work environment and enforce OSHA and hospital safety standards.
Healthcare Compliance
- Implement and maintain Infection Control Risk Assessment (ICRA) measures, including barriers, negative air, and dust control.
- Support Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), ensuring safe egress, fire protection compliance, and mitigation during system impairments.
- Coordinate with Infection Prevention, Safety, and Facilities teams to ensure regulatory compliance, including The Joint Commission and applicable codes.
Coordination & Resources
- Schedule and assign work to staff and contractors to meet project goals.
- Manage materials, supplies, and equipment to maintain workflow and avoid delays.
- Coordinate with hospital departments to minimize disruption to operations, patients, and staff.
Quality & Closeout
- Ensure all work meets quality standards, codes, and healthcare requirements.
- Maintain basic project documentation and support inspections.
- Complete punch lists, participate in final walkthroughs, and ensure proper project closeout.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Massachusetts Construction Supervisor license required or achieved within 1 year of hire.
Experience:
- At least 5-7 years' experience in the construction/carpentry trade with at least 3 of those years in a supervisory or at least lead role.
- Experience with commercial constructions projects, preferably in/for health care facilities preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
- For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team.
- Working knowledge of Massachusetts building codes along with other applicable federal and state laws related to the construction process.
- Experience preparing project estimates and construction schedules.
- Ability to read blueprints involving framing, electrical, HVAC and plumbing.
Pay Range:
$43.45 – $58.48
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
