The VP, Behavioral Health assumes responsibility for the overall financial and programmatic operations of the Behavioral Health Inpatient Division of Northeast Hospital Corporation including: Leland Unit of Beverly Hospital, Senior Adult Unit of Addison Gilbert Hospital, BayRidge Hospital satellite facility, Partial Hospital, and Outpatient Service Programs. Assures programs and facilities meet or exceed licensure and regulatory standards as established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Health and Public Health, as well as Joint Commission.
Qualifications:
Education and Professional
Advanced degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline appropriate to the care and treatment of persons with mental illness. Minimum of five years senior leadership/administrative experience in behavioral health care services inclusive of inpatient behavioral health experience.
Demonstrated understanding of fiscal, programmatic, clinical and systems operation of inpatient behavioral health programs.
Demonstrates an understanding of the behavioral health care current environment, i.e. fiscal, clinical and political, to assure sustained funding and programmatic competency.
Knowledge and Abilities
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with: senior leadership of the Hospital; community agencies and institutions; physicians; HMO’s; credentialing and licensure organizations; the statewide trade group organizations and national trade group organizations.
Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbal to a range of constituencies, stake-holders, and to the Board of Trustees as required.
Demonstrates effective leadership abilities/qualities and ability to adapt to the changing health care environment.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills which support the Division and overall System functions.
Demonstrates effective supervisory skills which support growth and success of management staff.
Demonstrates the ability to consistently use sound judgment in decision making based upon current utilization data, current policies and procedures, current administrative practices, current clinical practices and protocols and current financial data.
Responsibilities:
To provide leadership and oversight to the Inpatient Behavioral Health programs under the structure of Northeast Hospital Corporation inclusive of: ○ The BayRidge Hospital facility ○ The Leland Unit at Beverly Hospital ○ The Consult & Liaison program at Beverly and Addison Gilbert Hospitals ○ The Senior Adult Unit at Addison Gilbert Hospitals ○ Partial Hospital and Outpatient Services located on the three hospital campuses
Provide fiscal, programmatic and budgetary management of all programs. Recruit, train and supervise senior staff of Northeast Hospital Corporation Inpatient Behavioral Health programs.
Provide oversight and input to division Performance Improvement Plans.
Develop and maintain linkages with public and private agencies involved in providing psychiatric care in the service area, specifically including the Department of Mental Health and its programmatic affiliates; Mass Behavioral Health Partnership; community providers.
Develop and market innovative program models to manage care providers, HMO’s and other third party payers.
Analyze utilization data for trends and need for strategic action plans as required.
Participate with other senior Hospital executives regarding strategic planning and improvement of services.
Continuously analyzes fiscal trends including revenues, expenses and capital budge requirements of the services.
Participates fully in the Northeast Hospital Corporation management structure at the senior management level including committees and assigned organizational responsibilities.
