Position Summary:
As a member of the senior leadership team and reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, this position is responsible for supporting and delivering a performance management model to enhance operational excellence and optimization across Mount Auburn Hospital (MAH) and Mount Auburn Professional Services (MAPS). This role will be responsible for supporting the implementation of standardized operating systems as outlined by MAH and by Beth Israel Lahey Hospital (BILH).
Directs and leads operational excellence and optimization across MAH and MAPS by focusing on achieving the goals and objectives of the hospital and physician enterprise. This will be accomplished through providing executive project management expertise and effective team management to achieve the system standards of Productivity, Care Integration, Transfer Center Metrics, Real Estate Management, Capital Project Management, and Strategic Initiatives initial work plan development and implementation.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Responsible for the effective selection, development and performance management of staff, to ensure the right talent is in place to achieve staff experience, clinical, patient experience, quality and financial goals.
Acts as an advisor for direct reports. Supports and serves as a role model in an open, compassionate, collaborative and accountable work environment. Responsible for supporting a high performing and inclusive culture across areas where team members can effectively contribute to the vision and goals and work at their potential.
Ensures the support and enhancement of a diverse and inclusive environment for all staff, providers, patients and visitors.
Works with Performance Leaders to support efforts to identify, plan, and develop performance improvement initiatives and enhanced care delivery models.
Serves as an advocate, mentor and role model for integrating best practices into the organization’s performance excellence model. Designs and establishes tools that aid leaders in the adoption of performance improvement approaches for sustained performance improvement.
Seeks to improve and align system directed performance metrics and integration goals. Utilizing smart sheet tracking and other tools to outline the work plans of each initiative and track expected results. Variances from expected results will generate a correction plan developed in collaboration with the department or responsible VP.
Assists in business transformation, by overseeing Project Managers and managing domain related project execution from conception through implementation; ensures communication with leadership in collaboration with the BILH communication team lead to departments involved in helping to identify risks and resolve issues as they arise.
Develops and supports relationships that create an environment where individuals and team members learn and grow professionally.
Minimum Qualifications:
Work requires a master’s degree in health care administration, business administration or closely related field.
Seven to ten years of experience related to performance improvement and leading projects or work teams.
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, ability to balance competing priorities, manage multiple projects at various stages and work cross-functionally.
Possess aptitude to thoroughly understand change management and strategic needs, innovation and potential opportunities for efficiencies and advancements.
Must be able to resolve problems encountered while working collaboratively and effectively in teams, emphasizing communication, collegiality, flexibility, trust, and patience.
Physical Requirements & Environment:
The nature of work requires close attention to detail for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
Work is varied every day and incumbents need to be adaptable to respond to changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
Sedentary work; exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally in carrying, lifting, pushing, or pulling objects.
Regularly walking. Standing only occasionally.
The position requires frequent computer use.
