The Patient Service Representative is responsible for obtaining accurate complete and factual information relative to the registration of patients for the purpose of legal records while maintaining patient confidentiality. This is a position of high customer service with patients and physicians both in person and by phone.
This position is part-time, Tuesdays, Fridays and every other Wednesday from 3pm-11pm.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Obtains identification, appropriate signatures and/or copies of insurance cards.
Responsible for entering into computer accurate patient demographic information.
Verifies insurance eligibility and address verification when necessary with online verification systems.
Answer phones
Notifies Admitting or Nursing Supervisor with appropriate information for bed placement of Admissions.
Reconcile charts
Collects copayment and reconfirms insurance and demographic information in the Emergency Room upon discharge.
Prepares accurate daily statistical and other reports as deemed necessary.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Prior hospital or physician office work experience in directly communicating and providing service to patients
Knowledge of, and experience working with, Third Party Insurance and Authorizations.
Excellent interpersonal and computer skills required.
Meditech experience preferred.
