Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton is seeking a Radiology Authorization Specialist. Under the general direction of the Director of Radiology, the Radiology Authorization Specialist is responsible for ensuring that BID-Milton has the appropriate insurance pre certification/pre authorization (for patients with an insurance that requires pre-certification/pre-authorization) prior to the provision of an exam. Serves as the primary on-site liaison for the Radiology Department to referring providers’ offices, insurance carriers, as well as patients regarding pre-certification/pre authorization verification. Performs a wide variety of specific and specialized duties including scheduling and cross coverage of the reception desk requiring knowledge of procedures and policies related to the Radiology Department. Utilizes excellent customer service skills with callers and patients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Min Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
- Min Experience: Two years of experience in medical or customer service working environment. Experienced with pre-certification/pre authorization verification required. Certified Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant experience preferred.
- Skills:
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology required.
- Knowledge of CPT, HCPCS required and some knowledge of ICD-10 codes (with ability to adapt to ICD-10 codes) preferred.
- Reading and writing skills sufficient to identify pertinent patient information.
- Requires working knowledge of basic clerical skills and the ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment and demonstrate the ability to prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands and to seek supervisory assistance as needed.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills with engaging telephone manner and presence.
- Computer knowledge and expertise. Meditech experience preferred.
- Problem solver with the ability to multitask with outstanding organizational skills.
