Day (United States of America)The HIM Clerk (ROI) is responsible for receiving, logging and processing all requests for medical record information from a variety of customers. Focus is placed on assuring release of information according to all Federal, State and Facility laws, regulations and policies. Special attention is required to maintain confidentiality and privacy at all times. This position also provides support to other functions within the Department as needed.Job Description:
Receives mail/faxes/phone calls and walk-in requests for medical record information. Process includes: open, date, enter into Meditech per procedure and prioritizes requests appropriately. Process requests including: the review of authorization for completeness and appropriateness; pulling file/printing electronic reports and/or copying specific information; faxing or mailing in the standard timeframe Completes requests including: closing out in Meditech, filing completed requests in the record (or in binder for patients with no paper chart), preparing appropriate invoices, processing checks/payments, returning records to incomplete or permanent files. Demonstrates good judgment and independent action by handling emergent /sensitive situations effectively with minimal supervision. Pulls and delivers records to floors and ED upon request.FLSA Status:
