Under Supervision, performs patient assessments and follow-up progress notes with attention to evaluating the patient's response to therapy or the need for modification of therapy. Working knowledge of Respiratory care protocols.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of all respiratory care equipment.
Under Supervision, performs arterial blood gas sampling on all age-specific populations. In addition, conducts A-line sampling, cord pH sampling, and scalp pH analysis.
Under Supervision, applies mechanical ventilation including a working knowledge of all ventilator modes, non-invasive ventilation, weaning techniques, and patient spontaneous mechanics.
Under Supervision, conducts proper care of artificial airways, including assisting with intubation, extubation, securing and positioning, and cuff care. Provides emergency care throughout all areas of the hospital and all age groups.
Conducts inpatient and outpatient education on asthma, chronic lung disease, smoking, and other related respiratory issues.
Demonstrates a mastery of computer skill for the documentation and charging procedures within the scope of the Respiratory Care Department.
Demonstrates an ability to work on various shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Minimum Education
Currently enrolled in, or a graduate of, a Board approved respiratory care educational program; is eligible to sit for the licensure examination.
Required Licenses

MA Respiratory Care Limited License/Permit issued by MA Board of Respiratory Care
Graduates holding a limited license permit must obtain CRT or RRT (RRT Preferred) within 6 months of hire.
