General Description:
The Manager of Social Work will provide social work division leadership and management, including the provision of clinical and administrative supervision to inpatient, emergency department social work staff. This Manager will report to the Director of Transitions of Care.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Define and foster the social work department mission, goals, objectives which support and promote BID Plymouth core values
- Plan, develop, organize and coordinate the functions of the social work division within the Care Transitions department.
- Hire and train staff; conduct new staff orientation and performance reviews for all department staff assuring competence and effectiveness in providing care to patients.
- Work within the Department of Transitions of Care to provide integration between Social work staff and other stake holders to facilitate patient care.
- Develop and implement policies, procedures, documentation related to social work goals and objectives, comply with all regulatory mandates, and including hospital behavioral health care and other clinical areas in collaboration with nursing, case management, and psychiatry
- Work collaboratively with Senior Leadership and Department Directors to improve and enhance patient satisfaction goals, quality health care outcomes, and professional staff development/team work
- Develop strategies and budgetary planning for staffing to meet the needs of the patient population and regulatory requirements
- Participate and provide social work leadership representation to grant initiatives including but not limited to program development, implementation and performance reporting
- Work collaboratively with leadership at behavioral health and social service agencies in the community to identify needs, service gaps, best case practice to promote the health and well-being of the Plymouth community
- Support professional development of Social work staff throughout the organization.
- Participate in patient evaluation as necessary
- Work as a member of the leadership of Transitions of Care to facilitate safe transitions and help reduce readmissions

- Willingness to provide positive, strength based leadership and to learn and remain flexible in the changing healthcare environment
- Ability to conceptualize, develop and implement new ideas or systems
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and strict adherence to HIPAA and NASW code of ethics while performing duties
- Effective management skills including conflict resolution, problem solving, strength based team building, and fostering professional development of staff

- Identifies, analyzes, and resolves administrative and clinical problems to foster significant improvement in patient care
- Participates in interdisciplinary continuous quality improvement activities on an ongoing basis
- Demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of care provided to patients

Education/Experience Required:
- Masters in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program
- Currently licensed in Massachusetts as an LICSW (without restriction)
- Experience with providing leadership, working in management, and with program development
- Experience with clinical and administrative supervision
- Experience with medical and psychiatric social work; clinical and macro areas of social work practice and policy
- Experience working with interdisciplinary health care teams
Registration/Certification:
- Currently licensed in Massachusetts as an LICSW (without restriction)
Physical/Environmental Requirements
- Work requires reading, writing and checking documents for accuracy, opening attachments and inputting/editing words or data into or from a computer system (Microsoft office, word, excel)
- The ability to drive between offices and various meeting locations
