Directs and coordinates clinical information systems for the Radiology service line across Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) in order to provide efficient and effective care. Responsibility for the implementation and maintenance of information systems in the Radiology service line, providing leadership, promoting collaboration, ensuring customer satisfaction, with enterprise-level accountability. PACS (Picture Archiving Communications System) and VNA (vendor neutral archive) are the primary systems for which this position is responsible, as well as ancillary systems used in conjunction with the PACS and VNA (e.g., the voice transcription system used by radiology, artificial intelligence used to expedite image interpretation, zero footprint web viewers, image exchange software, etc). Emphasis will include System Availability, Data Integrity, Response Time, User Training and Security Maintenance, and System Integration. Particular attention is to be paid to the integration of the system with the EHR (electronic health record), and support of the imaging needs of the clinical practitioners. This role will oversee all PACS administrators across the system.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Direct execution of work set by the IT Senior Leadership team and Radiology service line leadership to support the mission and vision of overall health IT application management, fostering a business-oriented culture and mindset driven by continual service improvement techniques.
  • In association with Radiology and IS management, provides strategic direction for design, development, operation, and support that fulfill business needs in the Radiology domain, overseeing implementation and integration of Radiology clinical systems.
  • Develops, initiates, and maintains a training program for users of the clinical systems. Ensures adequate first-line support for user questions and problem resolution.
  • Reviews, recommends, implements, and integrates other IS systems with the Radiology clinical systems. Assists in the development of policies and procedures associated with PACS and the use of film. Assess the need to change policies and procedures based on the capabilities of the PACS system.
  • Directs the clinical Information area for Radiology through training, development, planning, and establishment of goals and procedures in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements in close collaboration with both Radiology management and Information Systems management. Ensures adherence to BILH IS strategies, policies, and methodologies wherever possible.
  • Works collaboratively to ensure coordination and integration with BILH infrastructure systems, e.g., Network Services, Telecom, Desktop, Storage Group, etc.
  • Assists in the analysis and modification of departmental workflows as these become necessary due to the PACS system implementation. Maintains an accurate inventory and graphics of equipment, networking users, etc.
  • Develops a lifecycle management plan for hardware and software in the Radiology service line.
  • Responsible for resource allocation within the direct org chart. Has the authority to direct and support employees daily work activities. Has the direct responsibility to undertake the following employment actions: hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews. Direct Reports: 4-8; Indirect Reports: 10-20
  • Assists in planning, monitoring, and/or managing the budget in the functional area of the department.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Radiologic Technology, Health Administration, or related field required.

Licensure, Certification & Registration:

Experience:

5-8 years of related work experience required, and 3-5 years of supervisory/management experience required

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Advanced skills with Microsoft applications, which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access, and other web-based applications. May produce complex documents, perform analysis, and maintain databases.

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience with Radiologic workflows and the effect of information systems on those workflows is highly desirable.
  • Experience with a relational database (e.g., SYBASE, UNIX, NT, or PowerMac a plus)

 

 

Pay Range:

$166,400.00 USD – $201,760.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
