Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a dynamic Executive Director of Quality & Safety to lead enterprise-wide efforts across Beverly, Addison Gilbert, and Anna Jaques Hospitals.

Reporting to the Chief Medical Officer, you will shape strategy, drive performance, and champion a culture where quality outcomes and patient safety are always first.

What You’ll Lead

You will oversee and align all aspects of:

  • Quality Improvement & Performance Programs
  • Patient Safety & Risk Management
  • Regulatory & Accreditation Compliance
  • Patient Experience & Grievance Processes
  • Data, Reporting & Executive Communication

Key Priorities

  • Advance patient-centered, high-quality care
  • Strengthen a culture of safety and transparency
  • Drive data-informed decision making
  • Ensure regulatory compliance across all sites
  • Partner with executive and clinical leadership to deliver results

Core Responsibilities

✔ Set strategic direction for quality & safety initiatives across all hospitals
✔ Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams and site-based leaders
✔ Partner with executive leadership (CMO, CNO, COO, CFO, HR)
✔ Oversee reporting to Medical Executive Committees & Boards
✔ Drive continuous improvement and clinical performance outcomes
✔ Strengthen safety programs, including sentinel event review & risk mitigation
✔ Advance health equity and patient experience initiatives

What You Bring

  • Master’s degree (Healthcare Administration, Public Health, Nursing, Business, or related field)
  • 5+ years in senior healthcare leadership focused on quality & safety
  • Deep expertise in regulatory standards & accreditation requirements
  • Proven success driving quality improvement and cultural change
  • Strong executive presence, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Data-driven decision-making and operational leadership experience
  • Relevant certifications (CPHQ, CPPS) preferred

Reporting Structure

Reports directly to the Chief Medical Officer
Partners closely with:

  • Hospital Presidents
  • Patient Safety Officer
  • Executive Leadership Team
  • Clinical & Nursing Leadership

Pay Range:

$187,200.00 USD – $228,800.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
