OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST, PER DIEM
Job Description:
RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Evaluates referred patients accurately using appropriate tests, measurements, and history.
- Recommends treatment plans in conjunction with the patient and/or family and physician which is based on the evaluation results and includes the frequency and duration of treatment, long- and short-term goals, and expected functional outcomes.
- Administers appropriate therapeutic techniques accurately and continuously monitors the patient's response to treatment, modifying the program as needed.
- Assists in orientation, training, and supervision of aides, students, and volunteers assigned to participate in patient care or departmental projects.
- Documents patient care accurately and in a timely way in the medical record and as needed to facilitate continued care or billing.
- Confers with the patient and/or family, referring physician, staff, vendors, or other facilities to facilitate or coordinate care or obtain patient equipment.
- Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and skills through participation in continuing education programs, professional organizations, and/or review of professional literature.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED
- A Bachelor's degree or entry level Master's degree in occupational therapy. Current licensure to practice occupational therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- Minimum of one year of work experience as an occupational therapist
- Good oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare providers.
- Strong organization and time management skills to independently manage patient care load.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Normal hospital and clinic environment. Standing and walking, stooping and bending 60% or more of the time. Grasping, fine hand manipulation, and repetitive hand movements more than 60% of the time for outpatient treatment.
Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids and infectious diseases. Complies with precautions, as defined by Infection Control staff, in patients/materials requiring isolation.
Pay Range:
$39.50 – $53.16
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
