Balance Center Technician
Full-time, Monday-Friday, 7:00a-3:30p

Job Description:

 The Balance Center Technician and Coordinator independently performs vestibular function testing and supports the overall operations of the Balance Center. This position is responsible for coordinating patient care, managing administrative tasks, and serving as a liaison among patients, audiologists, and physicians to ensure efficient and high-quality clinical service delivery. 

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: 
1)    Ensure all appropriate equipment in good working order according to department. 
2)    Work collaboratively with Audiology and Otolaryngology physician and nursing staff to provide excellent patient care. 
3)    Manage vestibular testing orders in work queue and schedule appropriate assessments based on physician order. 
4)    Manage outside physician referrals for vestibular testing to include scheduling and scanning documents into EPIC chart. 
5)   Manage electrophysiology orders in work queue and schedule appropriate assessments based on physician order.  
6)    Manage outside physician referrals for electrophysiology to include scheduling and scanning documents into EPIC chart. 
7)    Call patients 48 hours prior to testing to confirm appointment and review diagnostic preparation. 
8)    Review patients’ medication list to ensure they have followed the 48-hour diagnostic preparation. 
9)    Performs diagnostic balance testing including VNG (Videonystagmography) and Rotary Chair tests.  
10)    Compile test results for Audiologist review. 
11)    Independently stocks Audiology clinic supplies to include otoscope specula, disinfecting wipes, gloves, patient handouts etc. 
12)    Opens and closes clinic by turning on/off equipment to prepare or close for daily use. 
13)    Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet the needs of the department. 
14)    Assists in scheduling/rescheduling appointments for Audiology department when needed.  

 

 

Minimum Qualifications: 

Education: High School graduate.  

Employee will attend training course where they will learn how to perform and interpret testing if they have not attended one in the past. 

Licensure, Certification, Registration: None.  

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Must demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

Experience: Experience working with patients in health care setting. 

 

 

Pay Range:

$25.00 – $34.00

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
