The Retails Sales Coordinator will assist the manager in daily operations in one of the following areas: Friendshop (including the FriendShop Flower Shop) or Window of Hope onsite at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA.

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible opportunity.

Job Description:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the sales floor by ensuring staff coverage at the cash register and with assisting customers. Responsible for the overall operations of the shop in the manager's absence. (essential)
  • Reviews all closing documentation from the previous evening to insure accuracy. Prepares paper work to be sent with deposits to accounting (essential)
  • Works in coordination with the manager; receives and processes merchandise orders. Checks in new merchandise, inspecting shipment for accuracy and damages. Ensures merchandise is properly priced using manager generated order forms. (essential)
  • Maintains shop displays to the standards set by the manager. In collaboration with the manager, merchandises sales floor for seasonal and holiday transitions. Monitors shop inventory levels and restocks when appropriate. Maintains overall store cleanliness. (essential)
  • Responsible for daily operations. May purchase, condition, maintain and design various floral products for inpatient orders, staff purchase and hospital events. Accountable for ordering and maintaining inventory for select departments including flowers and floral supplies, candy, helium, bags and boxes, cash register supplies. (essential)

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 0-1 years related work experience required.
  • Retail experience.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Supervisory experience.

  • Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and converse in English to communicate effectively with medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.
  • Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.
  • Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.
  • Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

Social/Environmental Requirements:

  • Work requires close attention to task for work to be accurately completed. Intermittent breaks during the work day do not compromise the work.
  • Work is varied every day and the employee needs to be adaptable to respond to these changes and use independent judgment and manage priorities.
  • No substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions

Sensory Requirements:

Close work (paperwork, visual examination), Colorvision/perception, Visualmonotony, Visual clarity > 20 feet, Visual clarity <3 feet, Conversation, Telephone.

Physical Requirements:

Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and or up to 20 pounds of force frequently. Job is physical in nature and employee needs to stand and/or move around through the majority of their shift.

This job requires constant walking, standing,frequent bending neck, bending waist, twisting neck, twisting waist, Fine Manipulation using both hands, Keyboard use, Reaching-above shoulder height, Reaching-below shoulder height, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 10 lbs, Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 25 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 10 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 25 lbs.

There may be occasional Power Grasping using both hands, Pushing/Pulling using both hands. Rarely there may be Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs, Pushing items weighing up to 50 lbs.
