Essential Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
1. Assists with activities of daily living such as hygiene, nutrition, elimination, mobility, comfort, and safety.
2. Monitors and documents vital signs, patient weights, intake/output, and other data.
3. Completes patient treatments as directed, and assists healthcare professionals with more complex treatments
4. Performs phlebotomy and EKGs, applies Holter monitors, and performs glucometer. Collects and labels specimens.
5. Answers patient call lights and ensures resolution of patient issues.
6. Transports discharged patients.
7. Participates in patient care rounds.
8. Provides one-to-one observation of patients as needed.
9. Participates in conferences and educational programs as appropriate.
10. Maintain BCLS certification and attend the annual Safety Education Fair
11. Maintain unit competencies.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school graduate or equivalent.
2. Ability to read and write at level 8, as documented on "Invest," the hospital's Employee Learning Laboratory software.
3. Good oral communication skills to ensure the accurate transfer of information, and strong interpersonal skills to facilitate courteous interaction with patients, visitors, and other hospital staff members.

Physical Requirements & Environment:
1. Normal hospital environment.
2. Exposure to infectious diseases, chemicals, and other toxic agents.
3. Ability to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time, and to push and pull heavy work objects (including patients), and lift 50 lbs.
4. Fine motor control for limited periods to perform patient treatments.
5. Repetitive hand movements, and ability to type 40 words per minute.

Job Description:

A nurse's aide in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) will assist the nursing staff in providing care to patients recovering from anesthesia after surgery. Responsibilities in this specialized area will include:

Assisting with patient admissions to the PACU and preparing the recovery room.
Taking patients' vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation, and temperature.
Assisting with patient positioning and comfort measures, ensuring proper alignment and support.
Ambulating patients and assisting with ADL's including toileting, dressing, and feeding. 
Assisting the nurse in conducting post-operative assessments, including monitoring incision sites and dressing changes. 
Providing support to patients and their families during the recovery process.
Assisting with patient transfers to other units or discharge from the PACU.
Maintaining a clean and safe environment in the PACU, including restocking supplies and equipment.
Collaborating with the nursing team to ensure efficient and effective patient care.
Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures, as well as regulatory guidelines related to patient care and safety in the PACU.
Nurse's aides in the PACU must have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment. They should also have a compassionate demeanor and the ability to provide patient-centered care during the critical recovery period after surgery.
