The Senior Financial Analyst reports directly to the Director of Contracting Analytics. This position provides key support and analyses during rate Under general supervision of the Decision Support Manager the Senior Decision Support Analyst preforms duties related to utilization of data provided by Axiom. The Senior Decision Support Analyst's primary responsibilities are to provide accurate reporting from and usage of the Axiom system, to provide guidance to Clinic colleagues regarding the utilization of all healthcare financial data and to educate end users about how to utilize the data that exists within the Axiom system

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

1)    Prepares, maintains and monitors budgets relating to each active clinical trial and / or research grant.
2)    Develops, maintains and publishes a monthly report which summarizes the performance of each practice in each at-risk plan. The report will combine key statistical indicators, budgets, actuals, and ratios. The report will be concise and serve an audience, which includes Senior Management and Practice Management.
3)    Performs data analyses and design ad hoc reporting from the
AxiomEnterprise Decision Support, (EDS), as requested by the Manager of Decision Support, Financial Management, Operational Management and Physicians.
4)    Working with the Medical Director, develop reports to meet the informational needs of Practice Medical Directors and individual physicians or other practitioners. These will include, but are not limited to, executive summaries, exception reporting and trend analysis.
5)    Provide routine reporting in support of financial statement preparation and statistical indicators.
6)    Records budget activities organizes financial data related to research finances and implements or supports automation of reports that monitor, track and project financial research activity.
7)    Assist Financial Accounting in determining amounts, types and timing in the recognition of revenue. Assist in the review Plan Receivables, Payables, IBNR and other reserves for appropriateness.
8)    Assists in writing quarterly reports on the financial status of clinical trials and grants.
9)    Audit database integrity by utilization of
EDS query skills. Reviewing field values, unit cost calculations, the accuracy of medical record data contained within the system and reconciling the system to the monthly financial statements.
10)    Interviews, selects, orients, trains and supervises assigns personnel.
11)    Provide research and communication of recommended corrective action related to system integrity to the Manager of Decision Support Services.
12)    Review all performance information on a timely basis for accuracy. He/she will follow-up with the Plans or appropriate Lahey employees in the event information does not appear to be correct, and obtain corrected information.
13)    Review all performance information for significant variances and inform management in a timely manner.
14)    Provide supervision of department analyst in the absence of the department manager.
15)    Provide training, personal and telephone support as a high level end user to all internal and external colleagues related to the utilization of the DSS system and DSS produces data.
16)    Assist in the presentation of information to physicians and managers.
17)    Be a resource to the users of the information provided in explaining its meaning, its derivation and obtaining further information.
18)    Coordinate and perform system testing related to the application of new version releases from
Axiom.
19)    Prepare ad hoc reports as needed.
20)    Attend meetings as a representative of the Decision Support Department and Division of Finance as requested by operational management and as a representative for the department manager if necessary.
21)    Participate on continuous quality improvement committees as a representative of the Decision Support Department and the Division of Finance as requested.
22)    Perform other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
23)    Participate as a member of the Decision Support Implementation Team.
24)    Assist in the production of monthly, quarterly and annual statistical reporting to financial, operational and clinical leadership as required and as directed by the Decision Support Manager.
25)    Assists the budget Department as directed by the Decision Support Manager in the preparation of the Clinic's annual operating budget.
26)    Completes special project as assigned accurately and timely as required.
27)    Maintains the confidentiality of department, clinic and clinic patient information.
28)    In addition, this position may have ongoing or periodic duties or responsibilities in addition to those described in this position description.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or equivalent education and experience

Licensure, Certification, Registration:  None

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Usage of personal computers, effective demonstration of verbal and written communication
Experience:    Minimum of 3 years of Health Care Finance or cost Accounting
