The Central Sterile Department processes instrumentation and equipment for 7 operating rooms, supporting complex surgical programs including robotic and Bariatric surgeries, total joint replacements, General, GYN, Vascular, Urology, and ENT surgeries. The annual surgical caseload is approximately 4800 surgeries per year, both inpatient and outpatient, with the department processing over 800+ instrument kits per week. The Central Sterile team goes above and beyond in their accomplishments to quality, quantity, complexity, and in their stamina to support our operating rooms. 

This position is 40 hours per week (8-hour shifts, 11:00am - 7:30pm). Primarily Monday through Friday, with minimal weekend, holiday, and on-call requirements. This position may require support to the Endoscopy Department with processing endoscopes as assigned.

BID Milton is offering a $1,000 signing bonus (in two payments over six months) to hired candidates for this position. Candidates will receive $500 on the pay period following date of hire and another $500 once they reach six months of employment.
Important Details:
• Employees applying internally from within BID Milton or another BILH entity are not eligible for this signing bonus program.
• Re-hires may receive signing bonuses if they terminated their employment with BID Milton more than a year before new hire date. This includes students, volunteers and interns who have worked (paid or unpaid) at BID Milton
• New employees must be in good standing at the bonus payout dates to receive payout.
• Candidates who are referred by a current employee will receive their bonus as part of the employee referral program. Candidates may not receive both a signing bonus and a referral bonus.
• Bonus eligible jobs are subject to change based on the hospital's hiring needs and will be determined by Human Resources on an ongoing basis. HR reserves the right to change the bonus eligible jobs at any time. Additionally, all payouts are subject to standard state and federal tax withholdings and are processed through payroll.

Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton is seeking a full-time CSR Technician. Under the supervision of the Manager and Supervisor of the Central Sterile Processing Department, the technician is responsible for performing a variety of functions including, but not limited to; decontamination, cleaning, inspection, assembly and sterilization of various instruments and equipment according to Manufacturer’s Instructions for Use (IFU), AAMI guidelines and Hospital policy and procedures.

This position is full-time (40 hours per week, 8-hour shifts) day/evening shifts, with weekend and on-call requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow established protocols for cleaning, decontamination, inspection, assembly and sterilization of instrumentation.
  • Adhere to standard precautions
  • Follow safety procedures and manufacturer’s instructions when handling cleaning solutions, supplies and equipment.
  • Operate equipment used in the sterile processing area safely and according to the manufacturer’s instructions for use.
  • Monitor, interpret, and document results of mechanical, chemical and biological indicators for sterilizers used in the sterile processing areas.
  • Prepare and distribute surgical case carts
  • Oversee the quality standard for handling and storing of materials and supplies used for sterile processing services and functions.
  • Comply with organizational policies, regulatory and accreditation standards, and professional guidelines.
  • Assists with improving the quality of central sterile processing services.
  • May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Min Education: High School Diploma (or equivalent GED) and graduate of a CSPD training  program required unless grandfathered due to sufficient current CSPD work experience.
  • Min Experience: Graduates of CSPD program; current CSPD experience preferred.
  • Certification: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS) preferred or certification required within 6 months hire date.
  • Skills: Computer skills, (Meditech, Instrument Management System preferred)
