The Enhanced Per Diem Agency RN adheres to the agreed upon scheduling parameters of the program (see below) and utilizes the nursing process as the frame of reference for practice as a professional registered nurse and provides direct nursing care to patients and families. Education, orientation, evaluation and competencies for this role are overseen by a Nurse Leader to the department.
All positions require a weekend rotation, 1 holiday.

• Medical Surgical Telemetry: 36hpw; 7p-7:30a
• Critical Care Unit: 36hpw; 7p-7:30a
• Emergency Department: 36hpw; 3p-3:30a AND 36hpw; 7p-7:30a AND 7a-7:30p AND 11a-11:30p
• Senior Behavioral Health Unit: 24hpw; 3p-11:30p AND 24hpw; 11p-7:30a
• Operating Room: 36hpw; 9a-9:30p w/ call required -1-24 hr weekend on call shift/month and 1 holiday
• PACU: 36hpw; 11a-11:30p w/ call required - (1) 24-hour weekend 7a to 7a, (1) buddy weekend call (11pm to 7am); (2) 11pm to 7a weeknight calls per month 24hpw; 11a-11:30p w/ call required - (1) 24-hour weekend 7a to 7a, (1) buddy weekend call (11pm to 7am); (2) 11pm to 7a weeknight calls per month

Job Description:

Provides direct care to patients and makes necessary nursing judgments. Responsible for systematically assessing the health care needs of individuals or groups and for the formulation of a care plan, its implementation and evaluation. Demonstrates the ability for decision making by integrating theoretical knowledge with practical experience in caring for patients (essential).

Coordinates the care of patients and directs assistive personnel in order to provide safe, effective, efficient, equitable and timely, patient-centered care. Demonstrates awareness of environmental forces on health care of patients and their families. Demonstrates the ability to identify resources necessary to implement the plan of care and provides patient and caregiver education (essential)

Works in a collegial and collaborative relationship with other health professionals to determine healthcare needs of patients and families. Develops relationships with patients and families that maintain and communicate trust and respect. Communicates effectively in the exchange of information. Demonstrate the ability to act as a patient advocate. (essential).

Maintains annual mandatory education requirements, which include emergency skills and unit based required competencies inclusive of intravenous insertion skills. Identifies needs for continued growth and development in conjunction with the unit- based educator Participates in activities that contribute to professional development of self. May participate in quality improvement activities. (essential) Demonstrates a commitment to patients, staff, and to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth. The individual nursing practice reflects the goals of the Hospital. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own nursing practice and patient safety (essential)

Required Qualifications:

Graduate from an accredited Nursing Program required. Baccalaureate degree in Nursing strongly preferred. MA License Registered Nurse required, and Basic Life Support required. Minimum 2 years’ experience as nurse in area of practice. Basic familiarity with computers. Ability to navigate at a basic level within web-based applications.
