Second Shift - Monday - Friday - 2:30 PM - 11:00 PM

Contributes to the Hospital’s mission by painting and performing a wide variety of facility maintenance/renovation work, ensuring the work required is completed on budget, within established deadlines, in compliance with applicable regulations and to quality levels that ensure the safety and an attractive environment for our staff and patients. This trade position will have an impact on hospital operations by minimizing downtime and on patient and staff satisfaction by maintaining an aesthetically pleasing environment.

Job Description:

As part of the Engineering team, this position:

  • Determines materials and supplies needed for projects/work, prepares requisitions, orders supplies and maintains adequate levels of stock to eliminate lag time in projects.
  • Views the user group as the customer and collaborates with them to address their needs.  Does all possible to minimize the disruption associated with the required work.
  • Performs painting and painting related work, including but not limited to:
    • Washing areas in preparation for painting/work
    • Spot patching and sanding
    • Removing or installing wallpaper
    • Taping and joint compounding
    • Plastering
    • Tiling and grouting
    • Installing base cove
    • Applying other renovation finishing touches and/or redecorating services
  • Maintains tools and equipment in an orderly and safe manner to ensure easy access and extended product life.
  • Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to supervisor.
  • Performs all required documentation accurately, legibly and timely.
  • Assists with snow removal and other projects as requested by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

Required:  High School Diploma or equivalent.  Two (2) additional relevant trade experiences may be considered in lieu of education.

Experience

Required: At least three (3) years experience painting, mixing and matching paint, taping and joint compounding and plastering.

Other Skills/Knowledge

Required:

  • For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team.
  • Excellent eye for differentiating colors.
  • Able to perform work with minimal supervision and/or direction.

Preferred:

  • Ability to read and comprehend blueprints.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Valid driver’s license
