Under the supervision of the Manager, and following established guidelines, performs a variety of tasks associated with the installation, repair, and maintenance of piping, fixtures, and associated equipment for the plumbing systems, medical gas systems, and emergency situations. May perform work in connection with sanitary drainage, storm drainage, special waste, venting systems and public or private water supply systems within or adjacent to a building or structure and other ancillary buildings.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:

Replaces defective pipe by cutting, bending threading soldering, caulking and assembling as appropriate.

Performs steam-fitting duties, assembling pipefittings, valves, steam traps, pipe covering and insulation.

Performs sprinkler and fire pup test, maintain accurate records of all tests required by outside regulatory agencies.

Maintains specialized water and treatment systems in optimum operating condition including critical hot water reverse osmosis, and patient, clinical and surgical air/vacuums.

Performs assigned and scheduled preventive maintenance on equipment and systems in a timely and thorough manner.

Maintains grease traps plaster traps, and other waste systems.

Interprets and works from blueprints, sketches, and written and oral instructions in order to accomplish assigned tasks. Properly estimates times, material, and equipment needed for the assignment.

Completes required paperwork in a neat, legible, and timely manner (i.e., job requests, requisitions, logs and daily reports).

Responds to requests for unscheduled and/or emergency situations to meet the needs of the department (i.e., floods, roof leaks, storm emergencies, etc.)
Minimum Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma or equivalent. Vocational/Trade school course, and/or
equivalent education and experience.
Licensure/Certification/Registration
Current valid Massachusetts State Plumbing License, and current Massachusetts Driver’s license required.

Special Operator’s License must be obtained within 90 days of hire. Operator’s License will include:

Periodic checks of the boiler and sign-off of an active operator’s log

Checks are to take place at least once every 2 hours

A boiler blow down test is to be performed at least once per shift
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Thorough working knowledge of plumbing trade procedures and techniques.
- Thorough knowledge of Massachusetts State Plumbing Code, and all relevant safety/OSHA/DPH requirements.
- In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.
Experience: 5-7 years working as a licensed plumber, preferably in a healthcare institution.
Pay Range:
$30.00 – $41.68
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
