Under general supervision and following the policies and procedures set by the Section Head of CT performs of routine and research ct procedures, while monitoring and maintaining essential patient care and safety.

Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
1) Patient Care Assessment: The technologist assesses the patient by the following: · Collects information by interview, from the patient, family, significant other, and health care providers. · Completes assessments by utilizing the medical record and CT requisitions or verbal orders to ensure appropriateness of procedures ordered. Makes accurate assessments of the patient’s condition/status thus ensuring appropriateness of procedure ordered. Intervenes appropriately in preventing potential problems/complications. · Identifies patient/family educational needs based on their learning strengths and/or deficits
2) Patient Care Implementation: The technologist implements care for the patient by the following: · Establish appropriate and effective communication with the patient and/or family member in order to complete the procedure. Demonstrates ability to coordinate care with other members of the health care team. · Implements departmental and facility’s standard by following established policies and procedures. · Educates the patient/family so that care can be continued upon completion of procedure. · Demonstrates an empathetic approach. Is available and accessible to the patient. · Keeps patient and family members informed of progress and/or delays associated with their procedures. · The technologist implements care for the patient by the following:
3) Documentation (Management of Information): The technologist provides documentation by the following:
- · Provides thorough and accurate documentation in the medical record by the following:
- · All pertinent data regarding documentation of use of Radiopharmaceutical or pharmaceutical.
- · All pertinent data regarding adverse reaction to any drug administered.
- · Provides thorough and accurate documentation regarding adverse reactions to pharmaceutical or
- radiopharmaceuticals utilizing established documentation forms and forwards forms to appropriate personnel.
- · Manages and communicates information through various processes, which include but are not limited to the
- following: computers, and telephone/paging system.
4) High Risk/Low Frequency/Problem Prone Clinical Skills:
- · Ensures that patients are able to ambulate on their own when necessary or, if not, they are given the
- proper supervision and assistance.
- · Monitors the patients continuously when they are having exams that include contrast injections.
- · Utilizes the proper procedure for emergency codes, such as, Code 99 & Code Red.Utilizes the proper
- procedure to page for emergency help within the Radiology Department.Reports all safety hazards that
- could harm patients, visitors, or other hospital employees to appropriate supervisors immediately at all
- times. · Initiates applicable “incident reports” by end of shift and reports incomplete and incorrect examinations to ensure the proper patient charge and continuity of patient care.
5) Clinical and Technical Skills:
- · Demonstrates the following necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to provide care and service for the
- patient’s according to the Department of CT’s established policies and procedures. (Also see Skill Record

- · Able to trouble shoot equipment problems in the CT department including the two CT scanners and laser
- camera, due to thorough knowledge of the equipment.
- · Coordinates the repair and/or preventive maintenance schedule for the scanners and laser cameras with the
- department physicist and service technicians, providing all necessary documentation.
- · Orders various supplies from the departments within Lahey and from outside venders, as needed, to run an
- efficient, organized CT department. Schedules CT appointments and provides information for patients,
- physicians, and other Lahey personnel about CT scan procedures.
- · Refers and discusses CT scheduling problems and other unusual problems with the Radiologist assigned to CT,
- or the radiology manager or radiology administrator, while using independent judgment to deal with daily
- routine matters.
- · On a weekly basis, monitors the outstanding worklist and updates it by canceling duplicate requisitions and
- ensuring that complicated CT studies have been dictated into the Hospital Information System.
- · Ensures the coordination of the work, vacation, and call schedules for the CT department.Oversees CT employee
- performance including but not limited to: yearly performance appraisal, oral and written warnings.
- · Responsible for implantation and staff adherence to established departmental policies and procedures in order to
- ensure that all staff attain quality patient care. Performs all duties of a CT technologist.
- · Readily and willingly contributes to the team approach, in order to provide the best possible patient care and
- service.
6) Clinical and Technical Skills: Demonstrates the following necessary clinical skills and technical knowledge to
provide care and service for the patient’s according to the Department of CT’s established policies and procedures.

- to ensure that all staff attain quality patient care. Performs all duties of a CT technologist.
- · Readily and willingly contributes to the team approach, in order to provide the best possible patient care and
- service.Radiation Safety:
- · Practices established radiation protection and safety protocols for self, staff and patients with 100% accuracy.
- Uses proper radiation safety techniques (time/distance/shielding) to minimize exposure to themselves, patients
- and the general public.
- · Wears film badges as required.
· Performs venipuncture in the compliance with established hospital policy; see skill record check list
7) Quality Control:
- · Accurately performs QC on all scanners.
- · Monitors results and takes corrective action or initiates repair as appropriate.
- · Documents QC performed, as required by law. · Proactively and accurately performs additional job functions at designated secondary sites. · Proactively and willingly works at disunited secondary site as needed or instructed.
8) Organizational Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Graduate of an AMA approved Radiology Technology Program.
2. Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered by the ARRT-R, or registry eligible, Licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Public Health: Radiation control Program in the specialties in which the technologist practices.
3. Skills: All aspects of CT
4. Experience: 3-5 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist
5. 2-3 years CT experience
6. Previous supervisory experience.
Pay Range:
$52.80 – $78.46
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
