Certified Peer Specialist – Lawrence Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC)
Job Description:
The Community Behavioral Health Center Program (CBHC) Certified Peer Specialist works to provide a safe and welcoming environment for individuals seeking services through the CBHC.
The Peer Specialists Responsibilities Are:
- Provides a welcoming environment for the client while in the CBHC.
- Works collaboratively with the clinical staff and assists in arranging services to which the individual is being referred.
- Ensures that the client understands what is happening during the evaluation process and assists with communication.
- Shares skills learned that have been useful in managing stress in the community.
- Engages appropriately with clients to support them in identifying strengths, existing supports and community resources.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree preferred; other education/training/experience considered. Have personal knowledge of mental illness via their own lived experience with recovery.
- Certification as a Peer Specialist or willing to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Demonstrates good boundaries regarding confidentiality and personal relationships, while at the same time be able to share personal knowledge about recovering from mental illness.
- Demonstrates strong knowledge and skills regarding the recovery process.
- Demonstrates the ability to evaluate what is needed by each individual and adjust approach accordingly.
- Have in-depth knowledge of local resources
Schedule: Full Time, 40 hrs per week. Tuesday-Friday at 2:00-10:30p and Saturdays 10:00am-6:00pm
Pay Range:
$21.00 – $25.60
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
