The Surgical Specialties unit is an ambulatory, procedural-based clinic that includes a team of surgeons and specialists across multiple disciplines. This unit consists of 29 surgeons, 9 Nurse Practitioners, and 3 PAs, all working collaboratively to provide comprehensive surgical care. The specialties covered in this clinic include Urology, Colorectal Surgery, Interventional Pulmonology, Endocrinology, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, and Radiation Oncology. The team manages a wide range of surgical needs, providing care for new patients requiring surgical intervention, post-operative follow-up, and patients with recurring conditions or complications. This team also manages medical concerns related to surgical conditions, provides care for patients at high risk of needing surgery, and ensures long-term surveillance for patients following surgical treatments.

 
Hours Monday- Friday, 7:30 to 4 for the lead MA position, for the regular MA position 8:30 to 5 Monday to Friday

Job Description:

 

Procedures Performed in Surgical Specialties

Urology

  • Cystoscopy
  • Stent removal
  • Biopsy/Fulguration
  • Fiducial marker placement
  • Hydrocele drainage (aspiration, sclerotherapy)
  • Minor penile procedures (circumcision, dorsal slit, frenulectomy, meatotomy)
  • Prostate biopsy (transrectal or transperineal)
  • Spermatocele drainage
  • Vasectomy

Interventional Pulmonology

  • Pleural port drainage
  • Thoracentesis
  • Tunneled pleural catheter (placement, removal, sampling/troubleshooting)

Colorectal

  • Flexible sigmoidoscopy (with biopsy or tattooing)
  • Hemorrhoid banding
  • Incision and drainage
  • Sclerotherapy
  • Seton tightening

Endocrinology

  • Thyroid nodule biopsy (FNA)
  • Afirma genetic testing

General Surgery / Colorectal

  • Wound dressing changes
  • Staple and suture removal

 

 

 

Pay Range:

$23.15 – $31.16

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
