Job Description:

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIRED:  Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

–Minimum one year of experience as speech-language pathologist in acute care, inpatient rehab, and/or LTAC settings.  

–Proficiency with performing and interpreting Modified Barium Swallow Studies (MBSS).

–Maintains up to date knowledge in best practices in speech-language pathology assessment and treatment through completing continuing education courses, reading current literature, and attending professional meetings/conferences

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED: Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech and Hearing Association.  Valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts Speech and Language Pathology License.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Provide direct patient care in accordance with state and federal regulations and American Speech and hearing Association (ASHA) guidelines including assessment and treatment of swallowing, voice, language, speech and cognitive disorders.
  • Assess the patient using methods such as observation, interview and review of clinical data, as well as standardized testS.
  • Complete clear, thorough written clinical documentation with timeliness in accordance with departmental guidelines 
  • Develop individualized plan of care based on assessment and in conjunction with physician orders to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Implement plan of care and update treatment plan and goals as appropriate through ongoing assessment.
  • Document patient care in the medical record.
  • Implement discharge planning process from the time of evaluation and prepare the patient and caregiver through treatment and education.
  • Coordinate and communicate plan of patient care with physicians and other members of health care team, patient and caregiver. 
  • Participate in case conferences and family meetings if needed.
  • Participate in activities to improve patient care outcomes (e.g. Winchester Hospital Committees as delegated by the Speech Therapy Coordinator, or the Director of Rehabilitation Services.

SCHEDULING

–flexible availability Monday-Friday

–no weekends or holidays

-primary coverage and supplementary coverage for inpatient caseload

-conduct inpatient and outpatient modified barium swallow studies

 

 

Pay Range:

$38.50 – $53.91

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
