Job Description:
The Mammographer, under the direction of the Mammography Supervisor, to provide high quality mammographic services to patients. Responsible for assuring that the images are done in an accurate, safe and timely manner. Delivers exemplary service to patients, families, physicians and co-workers. Is expected to function with initiative and independent judgment. Works closely with mammography supervisor to assure the highest level of patient care possible.
Responsibilities include;
- Performs high quality exams. Provide optimal comfort for the exam. Treat patients with dignity and respect.
- Assists radiologist with biopsies.
- Provides optimal patient communication with follow through in presenting a complete case to the radiologist in an accurate and timely manner.
- Assists mammography supervisor with projects as requested. Able to perform all QA as needed.
- Responsible for all following all MSQA, FDA, JCAHO, and ACR requirements within the Mammography.
- Assists physicist for annual inspection.
- Maintains professional competencies and education requirements. Actively participates in CE programs to assure RT (M) qualifications are met. Provides supervisor with current licenses and CEU’s as they become available. Monitors quantity of mammograms done to meet the required number for state inspection.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for all safety regulations in the Mammography section.
- Keeps mammography work room, exam room, changing and waiting areas clean and neat. Empties laundry bag when needed. Monitors supplies and checks expiration dates on special procedure supplies. Reports any malfunction of equipment immediately to supervisor or Clinical Manager.
- Performs related mammography service functions in a timely manner.
- Assumes responsibility for all documentation in the Mammography Reporting System and accesses reports as needed when supervisor is unavailable.
- Provides clinical advice to Radiology clerical staff as needed. Communicates with clerical staff regarding patients’ missed appointments or tardiness.
- Includes stereotactic and needle localization biopsy, experience not necessary willing to train.
Minimum Education
Must be a graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program
Minimum Work Experience
1+ years of experience
Done Densitometry experience preferred
Required Licenses
Radiologic Technologist and Technician
Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist License
ARRT – Mammography Certified, BCLS
Pay Range:
$46.00 – $68.35
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
