40 hpw; 8-hr shifts (9a-5:30p), Mon- Fri

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Liaison between preadmission testing staff, anesthesia providers, healthcare providers, physician office staff and PACU preoperative staff.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication, organizational and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrates the Core Values in all interpersonal interactions – Excellence, Integrity, Trust, Respect and Teamwork.
  • Opens and prepares the department for the day by printing and distributing PAT schedules for all PAT locations.
  • Creates charts as needed for all patients processed through surgical services including bone marrow biopsies and radiology procedures requiring anesthesia.  Charts are not required for C Section patients.
  • Submits personal health information requests as directed by nursing and anesthesia staff.  If requested, please fax the Implanted Electronic device questionnaire with patient sticker to the designated physician office.
  • Accurately collates all patient medical record information, and testing results and places them in the patient medical record.
  • Assembles pre-operative patient charts as requested by clinical staff and prepares patient charts for next several day surgical procedures.
  • Scans orders as necessary to pharmacy.
  • Documents and tracks any items still needed for each patient record.
  • Communicates any identified discrepancy in patient information – demographics, date of birth or insurance to pre authorization department.
  • Answers telephone using proper etiquette and interacts professionally to meet caller’s needs.
  • Performs clerical duties as assigned by Surgical Services administration.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Performs errands to other areas of the hospital.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Accurate typing skills at 30 wpm.
  • Possesses organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to concentrate and prioritize in a distracting environment.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking while working at a quick pace with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of surgical procedures.
  • Demonstrated computer skills.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • HS Diploma or equivalent      
  • Completion of medical terminology course.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

 

 

Pay Range:

$17.69 – $29.77

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
