Job Description:
Schedule: Every third weekend; Saturday and Sunday (each shift is 11.5hr)
Early Shift Weekend:
- Saturday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
- Sunday: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
Late Shift Weekend:
- Saturday: 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM
- Sunday: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
QUALIFICATIONS
Education Required: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Education Preferred: Associates degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Experience Preferred: Two years of ultrasound experience
License Required
- Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty(ies) as appropriate, or registry eligible. If registry eligible, must obtain registration within 12 months of hire date.
Certification Required
- Basic Life Support
JOB FUNCTIONS
As part of the Radiology team, the Diagnostic Medical Sonographer:
- Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.
- Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures.
- Gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork.
- Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations.
- Uses sonographic skills to identify, record, and modify procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
- Uses independent judgment during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
- Analyses sonograms, incorporates sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
- Coordinates work schedule with departmental supervisor and/or scheduling desk.
- Assists with the daily operation of the sonographic lab.
- Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area and maintains adequate supplies.
- Participates in the maintenance of the accreditation process.
- Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.
- Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures.
- Gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork.
- Minimizes preventable harm events and consistently executes the infection control protocols.
- Incorporates the Culture of Safety tools in daily practice, adhering to quality and safety guidelines and communicating near-miss or potential risks.
Additional Details
On-Call Requirement
- On-call coverage is required approximately once every 16 weeks
- On-call schedule runs from Friday at 11:00 PM to Monday at 7:00 AM
- Call coverage is limited to covering sick calls at the Main Hospital on weekends only
Holiday Rotation
- 1–2 holidays per year
- Holiday shifts are 8-hours only
Pay Range:
$46.00 – $68.35
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
