Join our team in the state-of-the-art Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU), located in the Klarman Building. We are seeking a highly motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with a master’s in nursing or nursing education to advance nursing practice, lead professional development, and support high-acuity cardiac care.

The CICU is a 15-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with acute coronary syndromes, life-threatening arrhythmias, advanced heart failure, and those awaiting heart transplantation. Our team utilizes advanced therapies including IABP, Impella, VA-ECMO, and other mechanical circulatory support devices.

Job Description:

Clinical Leadership & Practice Advancement

  • Provide clinical leadership and support staff development using current evidence‑based practice
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver holistic, patient‑ and family‑centered care
  • Identify and prioritize nursing care needs for defined patient populations
  • Lead care conferences and develop innovative programs for patients, families, and communities
  • Design and evaluate educational initiatives for patients and healthcare professionals
  • Develop and update nursing policies, protocols, and nurse‑sensitive quality indicators
  • Partner with nursing leadership and educators to support orientation, competencies, and ongoing education
  • Mentor nurses in skill development, evidence‑based practice, and career growth
  • Participate in product, equipment, and practice evaluation initiatives
  • Engage in research, scholarly work, and professional representation at the local and national level

Required Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Nursing required.
  • License Registered Nurse required
  • American Heart Association – Basic Life support Certificate required.
  • 3-5 years related work experience required.
  • Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five years of successful work experience in nursing with two years in a specialty area.
  • Current Clinical Nurse Specialist certification. Current Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) license to practice in Massachusetts.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

 

 

Pay Range:

$40.31 – $104.17

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
