Job Description:

Medical Director, Urgent Care

Department: Urgent Care

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Chief Medical Officer of Beth Israel Lahey Health Medical Group, you will provide strategic leadership and oversight for all aspects of urgent care—including clinical services and supervision of Advanced Practice Providers.

Role Overview

  • Physician leader responsible for clinical quality, operations, and staff development
  • Ensures high-quality patient care and strong community reputation
  • Collaborates with leadership; fosters inclusive, high-performing culture

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and support medical staff performance and growth
  • Meet quality, financial, and patient satisfaction goals
  • Lead department operations, resource allocation, and new initiatives
  • Support physician recruitment and hiring

Time Allocation

  • Clinical Time: 80%
  • Nonclinical Time: 20% dedicated administrative time and supervision of APPs
  • Reporting: Regular meetings with the leadership team.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO + Massachusetts medical license
  • 3–5+ years clinical experience with leadership impact
  • Strong skills in:
    • Leadership, communication, and collaboration
    • Data analysis and decision-making  
    • Healthcare systems, quality, and safety metrics

About Beth Israel Lahey Health Primary Care, Urgent Care:

  • Urgent Care clinics are located in Danvers, Gloucester, Lynnfield and Haverhill

Pay Range: 

$300,000.00 USD – $350,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation may be determined based on several factors, that may include education, training, relevant experience, specialty, geography of work location, productivity, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentive compensation, which may include productivity and quality bonuses.
