Ensure daily quality operations of the assigned laboratory section(s) occur smoothly and efficiently and in conformance with applicable accreditation, certification, and regulatory requirements. Along with the Administrative Director and section supervisors provide quality oversight of the Core laboratory sections (Anatomic and Clinical).

Develop and implement daily operational workflows and processes maximizing patient outcomes, visit volume, interdepartmental structure, and clinical processes.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

• Support supervision of all laboratory staff and establish work schedules.

• Lead the laboratory department leadership team.

• Ensure proficiency testing compliance.

• Maintain regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, CAP).

• Assist with budget development and fiscal oversight.

• Create and maintain laboratory quality indicators.

• Perform internal audits and maintain documentation control systems.

• Review SOPs, validations, and incident reports.

• Investigate incidents in a timely manner.

• Assist with staff orientation, interviews, evaluations, and competencies.

• Coordinate training and continuing education.

• Monitor inventory and equipment maintenance.

• Assist with IT and Community One projects.

• Act as quality lead in absence of Administrative Director.

• Maintain professional development and safety compliance.

• Support and Supervise Lab Section Supervisors.

• Supervise pathology and technologist staff.

• Provide bench coverage as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• MT (ASCP) or equivalent required.

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological science or medical technology.

• Minimum 5 years of high-complexity laboratory experience and 3 years of experience in a supervisory role.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

• Effective communication and documentation skills.

• Proficient with Word and Excel.

• Ability to train and supervise staff.

Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate in-depth knowledge of concepts, practices and policies with the ability to use them in complex varied situations.

Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.

Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service and staff training to meet customer service standards and expectations for the assigned unit(s). Resolves service issues in the assigned unit(s) in a timely and respectful manner.

Physical Nature of the Job:

Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campus.

 

 

Pay Range:

$110,000.00 USD – $135,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
