This Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant) position provides direct patient care through comprehensive assessment, physical diagnosis, and therapeutic management of high-acuity critically ill patients in the ICU setting. The APP will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including faculty, fellows, residents, and nursing staff to develop, implement, and coordinate individualized plans of care informed by current clinical guidelines, best practices, and patient-centered goals.
In addition to clinical care, the APP will play an active role in supporting a culture of education, peer mentoring, and professional development, helping to coach and guide learners, and contribute to ongoing quality and clinical excellence initiatives within the ICU environment.
This role is within the Department of Anesthesia in Critical Care, providing coverage across both the Neuro ICU and Medical ICU. Off-hour, weekend, and holiday coverage is required.
Required Qualifications Nurse Practitioner :
– Master’s degree in Nursing required.
– License Nurse Practitioner License required., and Certificate 1 Basic Life Support required.
– 0-1 years related work experience required.
– MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG
– Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA
– American Heart Association – Basic Life Support Certificate & ACLS
– Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Essential Responsibilities:
Performs history and physical examinations, formulation of care plans, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic tests and provides education to patients and their families.
Document clinical encounters clearly, precisely and in a timely manner.
Coordinates the care of patients in order to provide safe, effective, efficient and timely patient centered care. Liaises between visiting nurses, clinical staff and consult services. Care plans and execution of those plans should encompass the entire service to tie the service together. Consults with physicians or surgeons regarding the care of patients for more complex diagnosis.
Acts as an educator and serves as a clinical resource for staff through consultation formal and informal education, review of literature and participation in seminars and conferences.
Works in a collaborative relationship with other health professional to determine health needs of patients and families. Demonstrates and role models an interdisciplinary collaborate approach to patient care.
Required Qualifications:
For PA:
- Master's degree required in Physician Assistant.
- MA Physician Assistant license
- ARC-PA, NCCPA
For NP:
- Master's degree required in Nursing
- MA Nursing License
- MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG
Preferred Qualifications:
Three to five years' experience in a clinical environment.
Pay Range:
$64.00 – $115.38
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
