Under general supervision of the Clinical Nurse Manager, the Bronchoscopy Technician II collaborates in the coordination of the work of the Bronchoscopy Department Technicians and Equipment Technician in the performance of general Bronchoscopy responsibilities, along with performing the everyday duties of a Bronchoscopy Technician I.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
1) Collaborates with the Bronchoscopy clinical nurse manager, lead bronchoscopy technician, and bronchoscopy charge RN to formulate daily staffing assignments for the Bronchoscopy Technicians.
2) Collaborates with daily duties of the Bronchoscopy Technician(s), assuring that these duties are performed in an efficient and accurate manner, including entry of equipment disinfection information as required by regulatory bodies.
3) Assists in the training new Bronchoscopy Technicians on department policies and procedures. Answers questions from staff and responds to routine operational problems as they arise. Follows up with any discrepancies or problems noted in Bronchoscopy sign out, and all other logs on a monthly or weekly basis.
4) Assists in the orientation of fellows and new attending providers on reprocessing of scopes and procedure documentation reporting tool.
5) Collaborates with the Lead Bronchoscopy Technician and Clinical Educator to assure that new Bronchoscopy Technicians receive appropriate orientation, and that existing colleagues receive annual competency assessments and adequate training on all new technology and equipment.
6) Assists Lead Bronchoscopy Technician with contacting vendors regarding all equipment repairs, purchases, and procurements, keeping the Clinical Nurse Manager informed of purchases, repairs, and other clinical needs.
7) Reports to Bronchoscopy Nurse Manager and Lead Bronchoscopy Technician when staff performance or behavior problems arise requiring corrective action or counseling.
8) Provides Bronchoscopy Nurse Manager and Lead Bronchoscopy Technician with input into annual performance appraisals for Bronchoscopy Technicians.
9) Performs the duties of a Bronchoscopy Technician.
10) Assists in the coordination of the turnover of procedure rooms.
11) Assists in the coordination of the transport of equipment, including specialty equipment to procedure rooms.
- Order specialty equipment as needed through purchasing
- Keeps documentation of equipment in need of repair
12) Suggests improvement to department processes when necessary and participates in process improvement initiatives.
13) Communicates with Biomedical Engineering, Facilities, and Maintenance departments to assure that there is daily up-keeping of the Bronchoscopy rooms and equipment.
14) Maintains inventory of Bronchoscopy equipment and supplies needed for daily operations. Keeps accurate documentation for cleaning/testing of equipment and supplies. Maintains records of repairs, loaners sent out and when returned.
15) Communicates with the Lead Bronchoscopy Tech and Clinical Nurse Manager on all Bronchoscopy equipment maintenance problems.
16) Incorporates Lahey Clinic’s Guiding Principles, Mission Statement and Goals into daily activities.
17) Complies with all Lahey Clinic Policies.
18) Complies with behavioral expectations of the department and Lahey Clinic.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalency
Licensure, Certification, Registration: None required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities: Ability to understand and to communicate in English. Ability to motivate staff in order to provide a safe, efficient level of patient care. Maintain up to date standards for adequate cleaning of endoscopy equipment. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills required to communicate with patients, family members, physicians and other health care providers, as well as other colleagues. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must possess strong problem solving abilities and analytical skills to ensure patient’s needs are met. Must possess basic computer skills to input and retrieve clinical information, as well as patient registration and appointment information. Utilizes critical thinking and good judgment in performance of tasks. Must possess good organizational skills and the ability to multitask and to prioritize daily assignments to ensure smooth workflow
Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience as a bronchoscopy technician I,
Pay Range:
$23.15 – $31.16
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
