Clinical Educator for the Emergency Department
Under the general supervision of the Nurse Manager and in collaboration with the Associate Chief for the Center for Clinical and Professional Development, the Nurse Manager and Assistant Nurse Manager, the clinical educator practices within the Lahey Clinic Professional Practice Model, MA Nurse Practice Act, ANA Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and demonstrates Lahey Clinics core values that reflect its Mission. The Clinical Educator promotes excellence in nursing practice by providing expert nursing care to patients and functions as a clinical/educational resource to nursing staff. The nurse-patient/family relationship, continuity of care and accountability are central to the delivery of individualized high quality patient care.The Clinical Educator facilitates the coordination of care across the continuum and demonstrates safe practice within the domains of:- Clinical judgment and decision making- Nurse-patient/family relationship- Clinical leadership- Clinical scholarshipThe Clinical Educator provides direct and indirect care to patients in collaboration with other health care team members. The Clinical educator maintains a current level of knowledge and skill with technical procedures as defined by nursing specialty organization complies with all regulations and standards of regulatory and accrediting bodies and is currently licensed in the state of Massachusetts as a registered nurse.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master of Science, Nursing or equivalent advanced degree in health related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience in order to have full understanding of Nursing Education functions.
- Current license to practice professional nursing from the Massachusetts Board of Registration.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or (ACLS) instructor certification. PALS Skills,
- Knowledge & Abilities: Requires knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through completion of Board of Registration approved nursing education program located within the United States or as certified by the Commission of Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS) in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse.
- Experience:5 years current, relevant nursing experience is required.
- An additional 1-3 years of training and education experience is required, preferably in a healthcare setting.
