The Director of Philanthropy Marketing is a collaborative leader with deep expertise in digital donor journeys, integrated fundraising campaigns, and data-informed decision-making. They oversee the development and implementation of philanthropic marketing, branding, and cause marketing efforts that enhance the image and reputation of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH) and all member institutions. This includes but is not limited to the oversight of all digital, print, and social media philanthropic marketing channels to donor-facing audiences. The Director of Philanthropy Marketing maintains close and collaborative working relationships with all system and hospital leadership, philanthropy frontline fundraisers, department administrators, board members, donors, BILH Marketing Communications, internal communications, and External Relations teams in support of philanthropic objectives. They oversee direct reports and multiple vendors in support of philanthropy marketing efforts.

Job Description:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: 
1.    Oversee the management and execution of integrated philanthropic marketing channels including design, production, digital, video, advertising, print, and social media. Ensure programs are benchmarked and provide competitive differentiation to set first-class standards of marketing programs. 

2.    Develop a comprehensive digital donor journey strategy that integrates across platforms and delivers measurable ROI. 

3.    Oversee the development, design, and production of collateral, online and offline multimedia that reflect consistent branding standards and drive philanthropic revenue. 

4.    Support the marketing strategy for all BILH and affiliate hospitals’ campaign marketing and fundraising materials, serving as the expert on social media, email, and web initiatives, as well as branding, design, and advertising. Support the development and maintenance of a fiscal year editorial calendar to drive comprehensive messaging by audience through integrated communication channels. 

5.    Coordinate with BILH and affiliate philanthropic marketing functions to support public relations opportunities and ensure consistency of branding and messaging platforms. Serve as content expert for branding guidelines and liaison to corporate marketing. 

6.    Direct the development and production of content and tools to support the internal communications needs of the BILH Chief Development Officer to share consistent, transparent, and regular messages that drive employee engagement and retention. 

7.    Develop and administer annual budgets. 

8.    Support all event marketing needs including venue decor, collateral, digital, invitations, branding, messaging, and event overall brand experience. Work with donor relations, events, and communications teams to develop creative stewardship tools and donor marketing materials to support fundraising objectives. Implement metrics and tracking to assess ROI and program refinement to meet clearly articulated goals.

9.    Support the needs of marketing committees to engage donor feedback and creativity, test ideas, and foster creative collaborations. 

10.    Conduct industry benchmarking to ensure competitive differentiation and best-in-class marketing programs. 

11.    Directs platforms and programs to enhance the image and reputation of senior leadership within the philanthropic community.  

12.    Applies insights from digital trends, emerging technologies, and donor behavior to anticipate donor needs, inform strategy, and ensure BILH remains a trusted and compelling philanthropic choice in a dynamic and competitive landscape.

Minimum Qualifications: 
Education:    

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Licensure, Certification & Registration:    N/A
Experience:    

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in a fundraising department of a non-profit organization, preferably in an academic medical center or system.
  • 5-8 years related work experience required, and 3-6 years supervisory/management experience required.
  • Experience with Microsoft applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint required. 

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:    

  • Must demonstrate teamwork, resourcefulness, results orientation, optimism, and Trust. 
  • Experience in marketing, communications, event management, and donor relations in large, complex institution 
  • Strong organizational skills and demonstrated excellence in problem solving, attention to detail, and project coordination.

Physical Requirements & Environment:

  • Standard office environment with extensive computer use
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information appropriately
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

 

 

 

Pay Range:

$130,000.00 USD – $160,000.00 USD

The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
