Job Description:

Winchester Hospital is a 5x Magnet designated, Top 10 Massachusetts recognized 223-bed regional hospital that is the leading provider of comprehensive health care services in the northwest suburban Boston area. 

Contributes to the Hospital’s mission to care, to heal, and to excel in service to our community by providing hypnotherapy education. This staff position will have an impact on improving patient safety and quality by teaching the practice of self-hypnosis.

Education Required:  Bachelors degree in related field

Experience Required: At least three years of experience as a certified hypnotherapist with a minimum of 150 hours of instruction in hypnosis and hypnotherapy, visualizations and guided imagery.

Other Skills/Knowledge Required: Experience in areas such as smoking cessation, weight management, anxiety/stress, pain management, oncology, sleep, preparing for childbirth, fears/phobias, other healthy habit changes

Knowledge of psychological principles and therapeutic techniques

Ability to work in a clinic/therapeutic setting

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Possess ability to demonstrate compassion and patience

Membership in recognized hypnotherapy professional association

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS Required: Certification in Hypnotherapy from a recognized professional organization, such as:  American Society of Clinical Hypnosis (ASCH), New England Society of Clinical Hypnosis (NESCH), National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), or International Association of Counselors & Therapists (IACT)

As part of the Center for Healthy Living’s Integrative Therapies team, this position:

  • Assesses individuals for hypnotherapy education, solicits information from the patient that will be helpful in developing the most favorable outcomes for the use of hypnosis.

  • Teaches hypnosis, relaxation techniques, visualization and guided imagery to assist patient with desired outcome.

  • Teaches self-hypnosis to each client.

  • Ensures comfortable and safe environment for patients

  • Maintains documentation of each patient.

  • Stays informed on latest research and developments in hypnotherapy

  • Participates in marketing, events or support groups, as needed

  • Provides group sessions for hospital staff, as needed

Pay Range:

$30.00 – $45.00

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
