Join the Transplant Team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center as an Inpatient APN/NP providing advanced, patient‑centered care to adult transplant patients. This role partners closely with transplant physicians and the interdisciplinary team to manage pre‑ and post‑transplant care, participate in daily rounds, coordinate discharges, and support quality and safety initiatives in a leading academic medical center.

Job Description:

The Inpatient Advanced Practice Nurse (APN/NP) for the Transplant Team at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center provides advanced clinical care to adult solid organ transplant patients in the inpatient setting. Working in collaboration with transplant surgeons, physicians, fellows, residents, nursing, and other interdisciplinary team members, the APN/NP manages patients throughout the pre‑ and post‑transplant continuum, ensuring high‑quality, evidence‑based, and patient‑centered care within a fast‑paced academic medical center.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive histories and physical examinations for inpatient transplant patients
  • Develop, implement, and manage individualized plans of care for pre‑ and post‑transplant patients
  • Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, laboratory results, and imaging studies
  • Manage acute and chronic transplant‑related conditions, including post‑operative and immunosuppression‑related complications
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate closely with surgeons, attending physicians, and trainees
  • Coordinate transitions of care, including discharge planning, medication reconciliation, and outpatient follow‑up
  • Provide patient and family education related to transplant processes, medications, and ongoing care needs
  • Document clinical care accurately and timely in the electronic health record
  • Support quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory compliance initiatives within the transplant program
  • Serve as a clinical resource to nursing staff and other team member

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree required in Nursing. Master's degree preferred.

License required: Nursing License, and Certificate 1 required: Basic Life Support

0-1 years related work experience required.

MA Board authorization to practice as an APRN NRSG

Valid prescriptive authority from both the MA DPH-DCP and Federal DEA

American Heart Association – Basic Life Support Certificate

Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in a teaching hospital and specialty area expertise.

Experience in Pain Management preferred.

 

 

Pay Range:

$64.00 – $110.58

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
