The Medical Assistant II (MA II) supports the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care while helping ensure efficient practice operations. In addition to performing core Medical Assistant responsibilities, the MA II serves as a team lead, mentor, and EPIC resource, assisting with workflow coordination, problem-solving, staff support, and quality initiatives. Working closely with providers and the care team, the MA II helps manage patient flow, anticipate scheduling needs, maintain exam room readiness, and promote a positive patient experience through compassionate service and operational excellence.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
• Perform all MA I duties: patient rooming, vital signs, documentation, basic clinical procedures, and care coordination
• Act as a mentor/preceptor to new or less experienced Medical Assistants
• Serve as an Epic system resource for the team, supporting troubleshooting and workflow adherence
• Collaborate with providers and site managers to optimize the daily schedule and operational flow
• Manage day to day challenges, including schedule adjustments, patient delays, and equipment/supply tracking and ordering
• Support standardization of workflows, safety practices, and clinic readiness
• May participate in practice-specific initiatives or department-specific projects as assigned
• May support or perform specialty-specific clinical workflows
Qualifications
Education
• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program preferred
Experience
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Assistant and/or related patient care healthcare experience required or associate's degree or higher in lieu of Medical Assistant experience
Licensure, Certification, Registration
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 6 months of hire
• Medical Assistant Certification preferred
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Ability to model professionalism, teamwork, and service excellence
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving capabilities
• Strong understanding of patient care workflows, regulatory standards, and EMR navigation
• Proficiency in Epic or comparable EMR systems strongly preferred
Pay Range:
$22.05 – $29.68
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
