Where You’ll Work
You will be based at Milton Hospital, leading the Intensive Care Unit/Critical Care Unit (ICU/CCU) and the hospital’s Nursing Supervisor team. This role has broad impact across the organization, supporting both critical care services and hospital-wide patient flow and throughput.

You will provide clinical, operational, and leadership oversight of the ICU/CCU and Nursing Supervisor team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. This includes managing daily operations, driving clinical excellence, and maintaining regulatory compliance. You will also lead efforts to optimize patient flow, capacity, and throughput across the hospital. Using data and quality metrics, you’ll partner with interdisciplinary teams to improve patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and the overall patient and family experience.

Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages unit-nursing staff within the scope of RN licensure, maintains professional standards of practice, and continually evaluates the quality of nursing care delivered.

Develops and sustains unit-based quality improvement initiatives; identifies and implements strategies to enhance patient outcomes.

Oversees the development and management of operational and capital budgets.

Ensures appropriate and cost-effective utilization of staff resources.

Reviews and revises division or hospital policies as needed to reflect current best practices and regulatory standards.

Organizes and directs unit functions, resolves operational issues, and communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team members, patients, families, and hospital leadership.

Oversees the management of assigned personnel, including interviewing, hiring, scheduling, performance evaluation, competency validation, and disciplinary processes.

Ensures appropriate daily staffing levels to meet patient care demands and maintain safety.

Develops and manages staff schedules and oversees payroll processes in coordination with Human Resources.

Collaborates with the Education Department to identify training needs and coordinates competency-based education and in-service programs; promotes ongoing staff development.

Accountable for patient care outcomes, clinical performance, staff engagement, equipment needs, and other unit-specific operational concerns.

Represents the ICU at the monthly Critical Care Committee; works closely with the Director of Emergency Department and Nursing Operations to address and implement committee recommendations.

Continuously analyzes unit needs, evaluates new trends and best practices, and makes informed recommendations to improve care delivery and unit performance.

Maintains a collegial and professional relationship intra/interdepartmentally and amongst other care disciplines.

Regularly reviews data and reporting tools to support regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and strategic planning.

Manages data and reviews reports consistently, utilizing information for administrative, regulatory and budget preparation, as well as the development and monitoring of quality improvement initiatives.

Maintains patient rights and patient confidential within the assigned unit.

Responsible for holding staff meetings regularly and actively participates in assigned committees as directed.

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, professional affiliations.

Performs job functions in a manner that promotes patient and staff safety.

Maintains up-to-date employee records and competency documentation.

Oversees the orientation and onboarding of new staff, working in partnership with preceptors to evaluate progress and performance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSN required, MSN preferred. Able to utilize MS office products (Word, Excel etc.), effectively.
- Current licensure by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. Previous nursing leadership experience preferred.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support. Advanced Cardiac Life Support may be required for specific units.
- At least 5 + years of acute Medical/Surgical nursing experience with additional critical care experience
Pay Range:
$144,997.00 USD – $205,005.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
