The Family Medicine Nurse Practitioner will provide comprehensive primary care services in a small, established family medicine practice with a strong reputation in the community.
The Nurse Practitioner will care for patients across the lifespan, from pediatric to geriatric populations, addressing general physicals, acute illnesses, and ongoing medical concerns. The role emphasizes continuity of care, patient-centered medicine, and close collaboration within a small clinical setting that includes three exam rooms and on-site lab space.
Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Functions independently to perform age-appropriate history and physical for complex acute, critical, and chronically ill perioperative patients.
- Responsible for guided pre-operative anesthesia assessments of surgical patients and pertinent follow up of laboratory and other tests obtained during the peri-operative period.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic and therapeutic tests relative to patient’s age-specific needs.
- Prescribes appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment modalities
- Participates in the development and evaluation of pre-admit testing practice guidelines
- Implements interventions to support the patient to regain or maintain physiologic stability.
- Assists with the provision of surgical care in accordance with facility, state, and federal regulations.
- Monitors the effectiveness of interventions.
- Facilitates the patient’s transition within and between health care settings, e.g. admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
- Seeks consultation from the consulting physician and other members of the healthcare team. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team members by making appropriate referrals.
- Facilitates staff, patient and family decision making by providing educational tools.
- Holds daily huddles as required
- Adheres to standard precautions.
- Participates in quality and process improvement activities to improve patient care and/or related systems
- Identifies self-learning needs and updates clinical knowledge and skills through formal and informal education and review of current literature.
- Remains aware of and utilizes current research findings for clinical practice and determines efficacy for current nursing practice.
- Provides and supports the provision of pre admission testing services with a commitment to excellence in patient experience.
- Provides leadership that supports hospital and departmental policies and contributes to the achievement of goals, and influences change in the healthcare delivery system.
- Employee maintains competencies (Position specific and hospital-wide) required for the specific patient population served.
Performs all duties in accordance with safety and other laws, rules, and regulations set forth by appropriate regulatory and government agencies and in accordance with established department and hospital policies and procedures.
May be required to perform similar or related duties as may be necessary on an emergency basis or as designated by the department manager or supervisor.
The nature of the tasks/responsibilities required of employees in this position will likely expose them to blood and body fluids. Employees will be oriented to and required to understand and follow the standard precautions for infection control. QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program
Minimum Experience:
- 5 years OR clinical perioperative experience with 2 years’ experience in the Nurse Practitioner role preferred.
Licensure/Certifications:
- Current Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Licensure
- Current Nurse Practitioner certification in specialty area
- Current CPR certification
- Eligible for and is awarded credentials to practice by the BIDH-Milton Board of Directors
- Valid DEA numbers for prescription writing purposes
Pay Range:
$62.31 – $84.74
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
