The Hematology and Oncology Physician Assistant (PA) and/or Nurse Practitioner (NP) is an exciting opportunity to provide direct care and patient education as a member of a multidisciplinary team in a teaching environment. Practice locations include: Burlington and Peabody

Under the supervision of the attending physician and within the established practice guidelines, the PA/NP will perform a variety of duties in the evaluation, treatment plan and care, diagnosis and follow-up of assigned patients on the Hematology and Oncology service.

The PA/NP in conjunction with the supervising physician is responsible for admissions, coordination and symptom management of chemotherapy or biotherapy patients, history and physicals, obtaining patient consents, providing daily care including ordering chemotherapy, referring to other specialties, discharging, transferring and responding to patients and families.

The PA/NP is expected to develop knowledge of the solid tumor malignancies, of the disease processes, and of the treatment and management modalities across the cancer care continuum.

As an intricate member of the team, the PA/NP must be able to successfully collaborate with other disciplines including but not limited to other internal or external medical or surgical specialties, social work, nursing, palliative care, psychiatry, pharmacy, research and nutrition.

The PA/NP will also become familiar with common complications experienced by oncology patients and gain expertise regarding appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions.
Qualifications:

Physician Assistant: Graduate of an accredited Physician Program. Documentation of registration for next NCCPA Board administration or successful completion of NCCPA Board and maintenance of appropriate CME

Practitioner RN: Graduate of a Master’s Program in Nursing. Maintain currency through Clinical Education Units.

Certification and current license to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Maintains BLS certification. ACLS certification encouraged.

DEA number and Mass Department of Public Health Division of Food and Drug Restricted Substances registration number as appropriate.

Written prescription privilege protocols signed by all attendings with whom the individual will be working.

Chemotherapy certification and Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification preferred and encouraged.
Experience:
-
Minimum of 2 years oncology clinical experience preferred.

Direct patient care experience (preferably to include in-patient care) prior to graduation and /or clinic experience while in program.

Pay Range:
$133,120.00 USD – $215,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
