Job Description:

Here at Anna Jaques Hospital, our Surgical Services department consists of a six-bed Operating Room, Pre-Admissions Testing, Pre-Operative Services, Recovery Room, Surgical Daycare, Ambulatory Procedure Room (Endoscopy and minor procedure rooms), Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory, the Pain Treatment Center and Central Sterile Reprocessing.

The Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN), is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role is essential in ensuring a safe, sterile, and efficient surgical environment while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, and compassionate care at Anna Jaques Hospital.

Shift: 32 hours/week – Days

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare operating rooms by ensuring all surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies are properly sterilized and available. 
  • Perform preoperative patient assessments and provide education regarding surgical procedures and expectations. 
  • Assist surgeons and the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, maintaining sterile technique, and monitoring patient conditions and vital signs throughout surgery. 
  • Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized patient care plans. 
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and detailed patient records, surgical documentation, and logs in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements. 

Qualifications:

Education 

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. 

Certifications 

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) are required. 

Experience 

  • Experience as an Operating Room RN, critical care, or perioperative nursing preferred. 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in surgical services and use of procedural equipment. 

  • Strong critical-thinking and clinical decision-making skills with the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. 

  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity procedural environment.

Pay Range:

$35.85 – $77.82

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
