The Operating Room and Anesthesia Technician works as an integral part of the healthcare team, responsible for maintaining a safe environment in which quality patient care is delivered. The technician will work in conjunction with Anesthesiology, Nursing, and Surgery and provide necessary support in the Operating Room. This support includes, but not limited to, room setup and turnover, patient transport, specimen transport, stocking, patient positioning, and limb support during surgical prep. Additionally, he/she will assist in the OR with the intubation and extubation process and may be asked to participate in the evaluation of new anesthesia products, equipment and/or supplies. Prioritization of patient care tasks at hand and communication with health care team members is an important factor in performing the duties of this role. Other duties include the handling of infectious waste, sharps, and maintaining order and cleanliness in the restricted areas.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Cleans and maintains all anesthesia & operating room equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Demonstrates proper use of equipment and supplies according to established procedures.
- Collaborate with materials management to ensure adequate and appropriate anesthesia and operating room supplies are available at all times.
- Responsible for assisting nursing staff in the rooms as needed and directed (i.e. turning, moving anesthetized patients, holding of extremities for surgical prep, gathering of equipment, etc.).
Pay Range:
$21.00 – $31.20
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
