Contributes to the Hospital’s mission by independently operating sonographic equipment and performing detailed sonographic diagnostic examinations on high risk pregnancies. This professional staff technologist position will have an impact on quality, safety and the patient experience.

Job Description:

  • Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience.
  • Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures.
  • Gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork.
  • Performs clinical assessment and detailed diagnostic sonography examinations based on the physician’s specified concerns and requests.
  • Uses sonographic skills to identify, record, and modify procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
  • Uses independent judgment and advanced clinical skills during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
  • Analyzes sonograms, incorporates sonographic information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
  • Performs NT studies.
  • Coordinates work schedule with departmental supervisor and/or scheduling desk.
  • Assists with the daily operation of the sonographic lab.
  • Maintains ultrasound equipment and work area and maintains adequate supplies.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the accreditation process.
  • Educates and informs patients and family members throughout the patients’ experience, being especially sensitive to the potential stress and uncertainty involved when a perinatal ultrasound review is required.
  • Communicates effectively with the healthcare team utilizing established handoff procedures. 
  • Gives and accepts respectful feedback to enhance teamwork.
  • Minimizes preventable harm events and consistently executes the infection control protocols. 
  • Incorporates the Culture of Safety tools in daily practice, adhering to quality and safety guidelines and communicating near-miss or potential risks.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Required:  Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program

Preferred:   Associates degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography

Experience:

Required:   3 years experience performing high risk OB ultrasound examinations.

Other Skills/Knowledge:

Required:  For safety and quality reasons, must be able to read, write and communicate effectively in English with patients, visitors and fellow members of the hospital team

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS: 

Required:    

Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in the specialty (ies) as appropriate, or registry eligible. 

Must be Nuchal Translucency (NT) certified or obtain within 12 months of hire.

                                   

LIFE SUPPORT CERTIFICATION REQUIRED:  Basic Life Support

 

 

Pay Range:

$46.00 – $68.35

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
