Pharmacy Technicians ensure safe, effective, and timely patient-centered care, and are integral to the pharmacy healthcare team. The role requires performing a wide variety of duties under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist relating to the preparation, distribution, and storage of pharmaceuticals for patients. Pharmacy Technicians work with computerized and automated systems for dispensing medications and preparing intravenous admixtures, as well as chemotherapy products. Team members are responsible for developing and promoting collaborative and collegial relationships with nurses, physicians, and interdepartmental personnel as they relate to the pharmaceutical care of the patients. Once trained, be responsible for teaching and training other technicians and assisting in administrative duties.
Job Description:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
1. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, processes prescription orders in a timely manner, retrieves, counts, measures and prepares medications, solutions, ointments, and other compounds as directed.
2.Responsible for filling, pickup and delivery of patient specific medication. This includes delivery of medications to appropriate areas in a timely manner so that patients receive the correct medications at the correct time as well as packing, processing, and tracking orders.
3. Supports the service needs of the pharmacist relative to pharmacy services and maximizes patient care outcomes.
4. Obtains information for new prescriptions and/or reconciliation purposes accurately and in accordance to the law.
5. Refers all clinician and customer clinical questions to a pharmacist in a timely manner.
6. Retrieves and files pharmacy prescriptions, records, and logs in the appropriate files and in accordance to law
7. Prepare, label, and deliver medications accurately and safely using systems like Pyxis and Epic. · Maintain inventory, check expiration dates, and ensure proper storage of pharmaceuticals and supplies.
8. Assist in receiving orders, compounding non-sterile mixtures, and pre-packaging medications.
9 Handle hazardous medications and waste according to safety protocols and PPE guidelines.
10. Support pharmacists with medication preparation, phone calls, and documentation.
11. Conduct routine inspections of medication areas and participate in quality assurance activities.
12. Train new technicians and contribute to process improvements and departmental standards. Abide by and maintain excellent familiarity with appropriate department policies and procedures.
13. Adapts to changes in the department based on needs including but not limited to offering assistance to other team members, floating, adjusting assignments.
14.If applicable, assists with enrollment process for any/all patient support programs.
15. Other duties assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
· 18 years or older
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Must have one of the following a Massachusetts Pharmacy Tech Licenses, Pharmacy Trainee License, or Pharmacy Intern license
PREFFERED:
· CPht
· Knowledge of Epic
· 0-1 years of hospital setting experience
· Previous experience with Quality Assurance

Pay Range:
$25.00 – $33.65
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
