Pharmacy Technician I (Per Diem)

Beth Israel Deaconess Milton is seeking a per diem, Pharmacy Technician. Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy/Staff Pharmacist, following established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, the Pharmacy Technician performs a variety of pharmacy related functions including filling routine orders for unit doses and prepackaged pharmaceuticals and I.V. admixtures.  

Job Description

Essential Core Responsibilities:

· Restocks floor stock/automated dispensing machines.

· Enters charges/credits against patient profile to ensure an accurate bill.

· Monitors medication order reports to assign medication to an automated dispensing machine.

· Delivers all medication in compliance with all DEA, DPH & State Board of Pharmacy regulations.

· Repackages bulk supplies of medications in unit of use packaging in accordance with all Federal USP <795> & USP<800> standards.

· Prepares and delivers IV medications in accordance with Federal USP <797> & USP <800> standards. Maintains records pertaining to IV admixtures, maintains cleanliness in sterile areas, and completes QA.

· Checks for expired medications within the pharmacy & automated dispensing cabinets. Ensures that all expired/damaged medications are disposed of in accordance with RCRA, OSHA & NIOSH regulations

Required Qualifications:

· 0-1 years experience (entry level)

· High School Diploma/GED

· Registered Technician with State

· CPhT

Preferred Qualifications:

· Hospital pharmacy experience

· Sterile compounding experience

 

 

Pay Range:

$24.50 – $32.97

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
