Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is seeking a detail-oriented, patient-focused Referral Coordinator/navigator to serve as a seamless bridge for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute (DFCI) patients. The coordinator’s primary goal will be to provide BIDMC specialists with customized non-clinical support services to assist patients in navigating their referrals in a timely fashion. This role will be a be the central link between oncologists, specialty clinics, and patients—ensuring referrals are processed quickly, accurately, and with compassion
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
- Receive and review referrals from DFCI oncologists.
- Match patients with the most appropriate BIDMC specialists based on diagnosis and clinical needs.
- Organize logistics such as registration, schedule appointments, coordinate same -day visits. and communicate details to patients and all providers at BIDMC and DFCI
- Collaborate closely with care teams across BIDMC and DFCI to ensure a seamless patient experience.
- Maintain accurate records and track referral progress in the EMR system.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
Education: High school degree or equivalent.
- 3+ years’ work experience in a healthcare doing patient scheduling, coordination, or referrals (academic medical center preferred).
- Exceptional communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of medical terminology (oncology experience a plus).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-institutional environment.
- Proficiency with EMR systems (Epic preferred).

Pay Range:
$22.50 – $30.00
The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law. Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
