The Sr. Project Manager of Strategic Planning and Business Development reports to and assists the AVP and Directors of Strategic Planning and Business Development (SPBD). This position provides project management, technical and analytic, and business case planning and presentation support for SPBD to assist the organization in achieving its strategic goals, responding proactively to market opportunities, and complying with regulatory requirements, such as the Determination of Need (DoN) process. The nature of the work in SPBD is market-focused and project-oriented in support of Beth Israel Lahey Health (BILH), including academic medical center, teaching and community hospitals; quaternary, tertiary, and community acute care; home care, palliative and hospice; behavioral health; and physician network development. As both an individual contributor and a leader, this individual plays a dynamic role with access to multiple disciplines, levels of leadership, and varied subjects. The Sr. PM position requires strong qualitative, quantitative and project management skills, including statistics, use of analytical tools and planning databases, in-depth understanding of healthcare planning, finance and operational data, as well as strong computer and presentation skills. This position requires the ability to translate qualitative and quantitative data into actionable information to inform decision-making.
Job Description:
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:
• Conduct high-quality research and analysis into macro and industry trends, key competitors and new entrants, and disruptive/emerging technologies; translate these into insights and implications for BILH.
• Contribute to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adhere to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Work collaboratively with strategic planners and business units to drive enterprise strategy execution and partner on local and divisional strategy projects.
• Conducts analyses and evaluations of strategic, financial, and operational issues related to the Business Planning process.
• Evaluates overall fit of business development efforts within the context of BILH strategic direction.
• Perform advanced analyses, synthesize data, develop initial findings, and draft recommended strategies in support of strategic and business planning processes, as well as executive decision-making.
• Develop competency and utilize market data systems and tools (e.g., Sg2, CHIA/BISM, Doctivity, NRC, MHA reports, EMMA, NHHA, etc.) and develop new and creative methods and analyses to help solve complex problems and improve the analytical efficiency of the SPBD function.
• Work collaboratively with Information Technology to ensure the completeness and accuracy of internal data feeds sent to outside sources. Run analyses on internal data, as needed.
• Work collaboratively with BILH Performance Network, Information Technology, Finance, and other applicable departments in the organization to provide requested information to SPBD Directors, Marketing Department staff, Department Managers, physicians, and other staff in the organization, and consultants, as directed by the AVP of Strategy.
• Utilize internal data systems (e.g., Axiom/DSS, EPIC dashboards, BILHPN, etc.) and/or coordinate with SMEs in these areas to support SPBD analyses.
• Coordinates efforts in areas to assess and finalize business development efforts, such as financial/accounting, due diligence, legal, reimbursement, regulatory and compliance, information technology and other areas, as needed.
• As requested, participates in the organization, management, and implementation of clinical and administrative projects that require broad institutional support and input from multiple stakeholders.
• Conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of BILH and BILH entity market positions, competitive analyses, and evaluate changes in local, regional and national healthcare trends to help position BILH and BILH entities to achieve strategic goals.
• Assist SPBD AVP and Directors with preparation of DoN applications and all related regulatory requirements. Provide data and reporting to comply with regulatory requirements, such as the DoN process. Actively monitor Massachusetts Health Policy Commission and DoN filings by other healthcare organizations.
• Apply working knowledge of healthcare market trends and planning methodologies. Cultivate topic(s) of expertise and proactively track and share developments in that/those area(s).
• Track and participate in the development of competitor intelligence (both traditional and non-).
• Works in collaboration with Communications and Marketing teams to develop and communicate BILH and BILH entity business opportunities, strategies and activities.
• Participates in the development and refinement of new/existing clinical program business plans for BILH and BILH entities in areas that define and differentiate BILH programs and services in the market.
• Supports the preparation and presentation of business opportunities to the senior leadership team and others.
• Builds credibility and relationships with BILH entity leadership and physicians.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree required with an emphasis in business, healthcare administration or similar field. Master’s degree in business or health administration highly desirable.
Licensure, Certification & Registration:
• Microsoft 365 Training Certification
• Project Management preferred
Experience: 5-7 years of progressive business planning and quantitative data analytic experience, established knowledge of health care and principles of project management, and experience in strategic planning, finance or service line operations required
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
• Strong project management experience, managing complex, multi-stakeholder analytics, consensus-building, and decision-making.
• Technical proficiency of analytical tools and data manipulation.
• Strong knowledge of strategic planning processes and business development formulation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, experenience presenting to in-person and virtual audiences a plus.
• Understands the regulatory, quality and financial components of the healthcare industry. Possesses knowledge of the local and regional market place, current trends and an understanding of current marketplace dynamics.
• Ability to contribute to work teams resulting in the accomplishment of strategic program goals in a highly collaborative environment.
• Demonstrates effective self-discipline and motivation, and objective judgments.
• Demonstrated success with data analysis and interpretation required.
• Experience using SQL, Tableau, mapping, and business intelligence tools strongly preferred.
• Collaborates effectively with team members on priority projects and timely development of key deliverables.
• Highly motivated, self-starter with a natural sense of curiosity and attention to detail who properly exercises independent judgement will be most successful in this role.

Pay Range:
$115,000.00 USD – $130,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
