Lahey Hospital & Medical Center, located in Burlington, Massachusetts, is a physician-led, nonprofit teaching hospital and a key part of the Beth Israel Lahey Health system. Founded in 1923 by surgeon Dr. Frank H. Lahey as the Lahey Clinic, it has grown into a major medical center serving over 3,000 patients daily. The hospital is affiliated with UMass Chan Medical School and has faculty holding professorships at Harvard Medical School and Boston University School of Medicine. It operates a 24-hour Level I Trauma Center, a 334-bed inpatient facility, an ambulatory care center, and a 24-hour emergency department.
