What is your role, and what inspired you to join BILH? 

Practice Supervisor – EH Core Surgical Practices; I looked into BILH when I saw how happy a former co-worker had been.  Seeing his happiness sparked my interest.

 

What do you enjoy most about your work or your team? 

My work is all about team work.  I worked with 5 different practices and within each practice the team work is amazing.  They also help each other in each office and to know I have that dedication from my employees is more than I could ask for. I enjoy seeing them all work together so well.

 

Can you share a moment at BILH that made you especially proud or reminded you why you do what you do? 

As a supervisor I always want my employees to feel that this is a safe, enjoyable, and fun place to be! I will always be their biggest cheerleader and help them grow! They always know that I am here for them each and every day! They are the front face of our offices, and seeing them with a smile on their faces, truly makes my day! They make me proud EVERY day!

 

How has BILH supported your professional growth or career development (for example, training programs, mentorship, promotions/career advancements, or recognition you’ve received)? 

When I first started I was enrolled into a Peer Coaching class, for being a first time Supervisor this was very helpful.  We have monthly manager meetings and each month a different manager brings something to the table to discuss, I have learned so much from my peers with this!  I am always encouraged by manager, director and VP to reach for more.  Having their support has been nothing short of amazing.  I did receive Manager of the Month in November of 2024 – being recognized by the VP was very special!

 

What do you think makes BILH a special place to build a career? What is one thing about working at BILH that feels rewarding or sets it apart from other places you have worked?

I know that I am able to build a career here, there is so much opportunity for growth within Exeter and BILH.  And to know I am supported in growing my career makes it very rewarding.

 

How would you describe the culture here based on your day-to-day experience? 

A positive, uplifting culture.  Everyone supports one another and it shows daily.

 

How has BILH supported your professional growth or career development? 

Allowing for time to allow for training programs, for me to meet with my mentors/managers shows that they are supporting me in my career.  This time with my manager lets me review my daily needs but also look at my long term goals.

 

Can you share an example of teamwork or collaboration that made a difference for you, a colleague, or a patient? 

Working with 5 different departments, it is nice that I can be an in-between person.  I have had patients who need something from our Gastro office for our General Surgery office – and when I am in either office, it is always a task I can take on and help with.  When the patients are in front of you and booking a simple appointment with another office, makes it easier for them and one less thing to worry about.  The collaboration is top notch!

 

In what ways have you seen your work directly impact a patient, colleague, or the community? 

Working here at Exeter Hospital, we are a community hospital.  Walking down the hall and smiling at someone, or offering a hand to push a wheelchair – I know that those patients will remember that.

 

What resources, benefits, or aspects of support have been most valuable to you as an employee? 

The healthcare benefits that BILH offers are exceptional! My family had a situation where my daughter needed to go to a Trauma Center outside of the BILH system – the entire visit was paid for, and the best outcome – she was ok! Knowing that these benefits are available to the employees gives a peace of mind.  During that time – I had the most support from my manager and director.  It brought it all together.

 

What advice would you give someone who is considering a career at BILH? 

I would suggest exploring BILH career opportunities.  There is so much available and so much opportunity for growth!
