We are seeking an experienced Clinical Nurse II who brings strong oncology expertise, confidence in complex clinical decision making, and a passion for patient centered care in the ambulatory infusion setting.

About the Role
The Registered Nurse – Oncology Infusion provides high acuity, specialized oncology care in an ambulatory environment. This role is well suited for nurses who are comfortable managing complex therapies, independently assessing patient needs, and serving as a clinical resource within a collaborative care team.

Clinical orientation, ongoing education, and competency validation are supported by an experienced Nurse Leader and specialty team.

Job Description:

What You’ll Do

BIDMC @ MAH Infusion Practice

  • Independently administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biologics, supportive therapies, and transfusions
  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments, including review of labs, symptoms, and treatment tolerance
  • Identify and respond to adverse reactions and emergent clinical changes
  • Safely place, access, and maintain peripheral IVs and central venous access devices
  • Apply evidence‑based oncology nursing standards in daily practice

Care Coordination & Clinical Leadership

  • Serve as a key clinical partner within a multidisciplinary oncology team
  • Coordinate care across services, including Radiation Therapy, Nutrition, Social Work, and Physical Therapy
  • Collaborate with BIDMC Boston and additional BIDMC ambulatory sites
  • Support continuity of care through shared care plans, symptom management, and referrals
  • Act as a strong patient advocate while building trusting relationships with patients and families

Triage, Communication & Care Management

  • Manage complex clinical telephone triage using advanced nursing judgment
  • Determine urgency and appropriate disposition for patient calls and electronic communications
  • Facilitate urgent and routine appointment scheduling
  • Provide clear education on treatment plans, side‑effect management, and when to seek care
  • Support patients with stable chronic conditions through medication reconciliation, prescription renewals, and care coordination

Professional Practice & Growth

  • Maintain all mandatory education and oncology‑specific competencies
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical service meetings
  • Demonstrate accountability for patient safety, professional practice, and clinical outcomes
  • Contribute to a collegial, high‑performing oncology nursing culture

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • 1–3 years of related nursing experience
  • Basic computer skills and ability to navigate web‑based applications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior oncology or infusion nursing experience
  • Experience in a teaching hospital environment
  • Specialty expertise within oncology care

Pay Range:

$37.00 – $95.74

The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.  Compensation may exceed the base hourly rate depending on shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime pay, and other additional pay practices, as applicable to the position and in accordance with the law.
