CERTIFIED REGISTERED TECHNICIAN-ONCOLOGY

Job Description:

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assists in the preparation of irrigation, intravenous admixture solutions, chemotherapy and other using aseptic technique.
  • (must be able to perform repetitive hand motions for IV Room assignments and prepacking.)
  • Fills unit dose, Automated Dispensing Machines (ADM), stock requisitions and maintain inventory levels in OR, Endo, OB and Oncology.
  • Delivers unit dose, ADM refills, intravenous solution and necessary pharmaceutical supplies to the nursing units. (must be able to walk and/or stand for assigned shift)
  • Fills medication labels, subject to final check by a pharmacist.
  • Prepares pre-packaged medications in commonly used quantities.
  • Assists with inventory control of supplies and medications. Receives and shelves supplies and medications. Performs cycle counts and monthly review of stock for expired medications.
  • Cleans pharmacy equipment, utensils and work areas.

Education/Experience Required:

  • Must be 18 years or age or older.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English at the 12th Grade level, follow orders, and written and illustrated instruction.  Ability to perform arithmetical computations (adds, subtract, etc.).
  • Must have passed Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration exam; all requirements of Pharmacy Technician Trainee
  • Must demonstrate competency in all IV admixture processes as confirmed in proficiency exercise as well as sterile procedures. Must have good math, computer, and communication skills.  Oncology experience preferred.
  • Must have current PTCB certification. Must remain certified (i.e.: continuing education and re-exam as required [staff personal responsibility]), if not re-recertified, has 3 month to become reinstated or will be removed from position.

Registration/Certification:

  • Must be registered by the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must be certified by the PTCB (Pharmacy Tech Certification Board).
  • Must maintain license from Board of Pharmacy and continuing education requirements for PTCB.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

This job requires frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs. There will be occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting. Constant use of hearing, sight and speech. Frequent use of smell and touch. Frequent keyboard and telephone use. Constant concentration and problem solving.

 

 

Pay Range:

$21.27 – $38.03

This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement. The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time.  The pay range for this position is established and governed by the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement. Employees hired into this position will receive compensation consistent with the terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
